That’s an oldie but a goodie
Looks like the re-productive organ of the He 111 imo. Guess that’s why so many of them were “made”. 😀
Can you fly these planes everywhere but England and Scandinavia? 😡
There’s this engine issue. Obviously, putting in originals won’t cut it as they’re too unreliable. However, one part of people say they’re gonna use them and how you can’t fit any other engines, or say there’s no chance at all because no one will allow those engines up in the air again. Then there’s those who say you can use the more reliable Centaurus engines.
A tad confused, me I am. 😀
Broadly, the 190’s are deemed ‘new’ aircraft by the CAA as opposed to restorations. They therefore have to conform to a stringent series of checks which any new aircraft would have to undergo to attain certification.
So how come they fly elsewhere with what seems to be such ease?
Simply because they have different rules elsewhere. They apply to all the aircraft we enjoy – including all the Spitfires, Hurricanes and so on.
Yes, I do understand that. I just don’t understand how these rules can differ so greatly, even within the EU. The Brits think they’re a hazard and won’t let them fly, while the Germans and the French think they’re fine. Obviously these people didn’t go to the same school to study now did they? Where’s the truth then? with the CAA? With the Germans and the French or somewhere in between? We’re talking fly and no fly, a major difference in policies.
I don’t have much to contribute. However, I started to think about Flying Legends and the constant talking by the commentators. I have nothing against commentators at all, they’re fine IMO, but instead of talking when the Spitfire tailchase is on, it would make a much better nostalgic and emotional event if the right music was to be played over the speakers when they buzzed pas. Nothing like some good old 1940’s music and Spitfires roaring in the skies. That is, if you really need something on the speakers at all during such an event.
That man is not Adolf Galland 😀
All the best to you on this project. Did the same thing as you, but with a book and I believe much less experience. I got mutual deal with a publisher and just started writing. Didn’t come out so crappy in the end. If there’s anything I can help you with I’d be happy to do so, although there are hundreds of people here more qualified than me!
This looks like a brilliant event. I assume just display, no flying?
I’m thinking of taking the trip regardless. A visit to the museum is long over due, maybe not much flying will happen, but I see the purpose of such a fly-in and it could serve well as a nice little weekend trip, a small pilgrimage for me personally after all the work on the book. A full circle sort of thing.
Norwegian airports pre Fornebu ain’t my field of knowledge either I’m afraid. U sure Gardermoen was around? I was of the impression the Germans buildt the airfield first, but I’m most likely mistaken.
I know there was one..but the name escapes me. It was our official airport before Fornebu. The place is all forgotten from what I read somewhere, and no one seems interested in keeping this historic field in good shape. So sorry I don’t remember where it was.
That’s the one!
Wikipedia? Never heard of it. :diablo:
There’s some combat footage in the same bunch of clips, but I decided to split it all up into different parts. These clips should have been online years ago. It’s a bloody shame it wasn’t, but they’re online now.
I take that as one positive!
