Saying ‘no’ to Legends because of a commentator is like saying no to a football match because you don’t like the color red on the jerseys.
It’s pointless and silly.
I have have not heard a word Chabbert have said for three years and sometimes actually miss his input.
The Saab was there last in 2005. Polikarpov is slightly uninteresting to me, the P-38 was expected, TigerCat long gone and no one expected the Hellcat either. Skyraiders mot likely banned for life. LOL.
Even so, they usually gather at least 7 Spitfires, and with the amount popping up everywhere it came as a surprise.
Gotta say it though, six Spitfires confirmed is pretty thin considering the amount to choose from these days
That’s what I suspect, why else would they put the elliptical wingtips on? EP120 hasnt flown this year yet though, maybe TA805 is a backup machine? Either way, I can’t wait to see them in Spitfires, it’s going to be very special indeed.
I think you are very right Huw
Time will show, but I heard on FB that EP120 would be lead Spitfire. Curious to find out. I guess Kent Spit is the better bet.
Spitfire TA805 is due into Duxford this afternoon. Take off at Biggin Hill 12:30 aprox https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=426219644152448&set=a.195529970554751.41221.189029544538127&type=1&theater
Must be years since it last flew at Legends. 2008?
There’s a video posted on Facebook of this Spitfire having a rather heavy landing & bouncing onto its nose. Text is in French so unfortunately I can’t translate what they wrote about it.
If you could direct me just a little but further on this, I might be able to find it.
What user, what group? What ‘like’ page? I went thru mine, but nothing was posted there.
You’re a week too early Trolly Aux
A week early and priorities a bit backwards.
😀
Ray Hanna. All of it.
Sir Stephen Grey
I can’t recall a Flying Legends ever having sold out on the door and the gates being closed.
Agreed. On Sunday in 2005 I arrived very late, around noon I think, just before the flightline closed. The weather was at it’s absolute best. Even then I got in.
They said in 2008 that they had reached max capacity, but I do not know if they turned away people at the gate or not.
Never been a problem, I never buy in advance.
He is one of the reasons i am reluctant to go in anymore -mindless drivel.
LOL, what an utterly amazing silly comment. There are plenty of spots where you can’t hear any commentary, and to actually put a mans “drivel” before watching two Gloster Gladiators flying for the first time since WW2 is so beyond odd that I actually question if you actually like historic aviation in the first place!
Well, stay reluctant – but still go. Chabbert never bothered me one bit. Either I listen to him or I shut him out of my brain. Piece of cake.
Understood the plot way too quick, but a very well done indeed.
I have seen the photograph in publications captioned as 92 Squadron, which seems to be a mistake. It has a resemblance to photographs said to be 616 Squadron at Leconfield.
I think this comes from it being classified wrong at IWM
I`ve always thought that this was a section of 616 Squadron, who at the same time in 1940 shared the same code letters. 616 seemed to have had thinner code letters as well.
I think you’re right. This is most def Duxford anyway.
