This is fantastic news if indeed it is here permanently!

This sperked an interesting twitter debate when a ‘Mustang’ was seen on the airport webcam on Friday, but due to its distance from the webcam and the lighting it made it very difficult to identify. We put it down to an 80% scale machine or suchlike!

That was a quick stay up in Sweden

Yeah i would go to see Mustangs at 250mph ! Far nicer to go and watch Mustangs fly and everyone go home safe rather than see people die -we have moved on from the days of the gladiators and the crowds wanting to see blood!

I would definetely go as well

Someone said this mark had bad handling characteristics. Is this true?

Ill-informed BBMF poster, it won’t be without shelter or anything like that.

Gate Guardian it was said on BBMF Facebook. Under shelter I hope? Not that keen on real Spits being gate guardians anywho.

…Incidentally, the pic of “RAB” at the top of the thread looks like a painting, as distinct from a digitally-drawn image. Is it? And if so, who executed it? I’s a very nice piece of work. (Whether or not it’s digital it’s awfully nice.)

I think it’s a screenshot from a game. Maybe Microsoft Flight Simulator??

This is another, fixed up by me

Just a little heads up to you Mark12 – never holding back on sharing any images (this one of unknown origin though) here or anywhere else. Many times I’ve come across people who don’t want to share at all, or want to be paid or given so and so for sharing their stuff. I think it was four years ago you had a picture I could use for a project and you simply said “just give a notice so and so below the picture and it’s fine”. What a breath of fresh air that was compared to other episodes I dealt with. Or as Tim said when he sent me a picture “don’t need any credits, happy to give you the picture!” 😀

I think Rolf Meum was flying with OFMC then, so something tells me it was his daughter’s name…

    Good bet.

When I was just a boy, barely six years old, I remember two chaps standing on a Spitfire wing in a museum, desperately trying to push the hood back so they could sit in it. I am not sure if they were museum workers or not, but to me it felt like “Spitfire-rape” and I was just six. Still remember the sound the hood made when they tried to pull it back, and the force they put in doing so on such a priceless museum artifact which I am sure had not had it’s cockpit open for some time.

I knew it was wrong. 😀

PL965 wore those colors as part of the 50th anniversary of the RNoAF airshow at Gardermoen in 1994.

Where did that name come from. Silje.

Who flew a Spit called that?

Or is it just “made up?”

I think they painted up Teichmans example (nowadays) in Norwegian markings around 1995, but they didn’t do it in the RAB scheme. I don’t think any Spit has ever been painted up in AH or FN squadron codes either, except maybe this occation. Still lots to hope for, and several to choose from.
