Just a quick question regarding tickets for FL, which I’ve had the immense pleasure of attending twice.
We are considering making a last-minute cross-Channel dash to be able to attend on the Sunday.
As this was not planned earlier becasue of other plans on Saturday, we did not get tickets on-line.
We’ll probably arrive from Belgium around 11 at the earliest: would there be a risk that the event is sold out at this point? or will there still be a few tickets left at the entrance?
I’m hoping the trusty FL “veterans” can shed some light on the matter.
Thanks a lot!
Never been an issue showing up at the gates at 09:00 and getting in. I never pre-ordered tickets (except Gold Pass) and I’ve been there since 2005.
He will be in the thoughts of many when the P-40’s are flying at Legends
As a little sidenote, my book Viking Spitfire will be for sale at Legends. There won’t be any signing session or anything like that before September, but I’m told the book is there so grab a copy if you can. If you want it signed, I’m usually around the Tank Bank area. Bring a pen though, I’m hopeless with pens (but slightly better than Ashley Cole). Ha-ha.
The book isn’t the regular run of the mill heres-the-cold-facts type of thing, but even hardcores will get a kick out of it – if not just for the pictures not previously published in the UK.
Thought the Balbo was cancelled?
Speaking of winds this weekend; there might be some.
The May 2011 show at DX was held in horrible wind conditions.
I certainly don’t know of any.
Sat or Sun 2009 was fogged in but by some miracle it all cleared up by showtime.
2006 (or 07?) had some strong winds. 2008 was lucky as another show was cancelled (RIAT?) and Legends reached max capacity. 2010 and 2005 was tropical and 2011 was so-so with small showers but good visibility.
All in all, pretty lucky.
Pre 2005 I wouldn’t know, but 2003 was yet another high pressure weekend.
Wot D-FUKK!
Ok, the jokes can run all day.
Lovely looking aeroplane!!
No matter the outcome, those guys have done amazing work
I heard the P-38 had to abort some of it’s display in Norway due to a small tech issue. Looks to be fine now though.
Where’s she coming from? Norway?
I go to an air show because it’s an air show. Not because of what will or will not be there.
I go on night photo shoots because they are at night. Not because of what will or will not be there to photograph in the dark.
I go to a museum because it’s a museum. Not because of what is or isn’t on display there.
Am I in the minority here? 😀
Brian
Exceptional rational thinking
That’s very nice for you DCK… if you have space for a paying passenger, can you can make detour to EGKB and pick me up/drop me off? 😉
Cheers
Pete
I want to say yes, but I will have to discuss it with Norwegian Air Shuttle first.
Seriously though, I agree with the initial posters sentiment. I love Legends but certainly don’t go every year. I also agree that (serviceability and availability issues aside) a more detailed advance listing of participants would be useful, especially for those of us who need to make travel plans to get there in the first place (yes, I don’t drive)… and get home too…
Cheers
Pete
I fly two hours to get to Legends (ground transportation not counted in) and I have never put a question mark on participants. I also make travel plans 5 months in advance. :dev2:
I’d pay the entrance fee just to see the P-47 do a 10 minute aerobatic routine.
Yes John Larcombe, poor chap. There was also a different Wildcat with them in the very early 80’s!
Rob
Just curious, Jane Larcombe at The Fighter Collection, any connection to John Larcombe? Daughter perhaps?
