Indeed. The bus shuttle from Cambridge drives you straight to the entrance and Ive come at 9, 11, and even 1pm at one point. There was never any problems in getting in there and dropping us off. No lines. That is, if the bus isn’t on a buss/taxi lane. Never paid attention to it.
Or just take the bus in from Cambridge. 😀
Try moving to the UK if you want to see more UK shows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was hardly my point but thanks for the tip. :p
Not to be an ass, but me personally coming from another country, you British does not know how lucky you are when it comes to airshows and all the different a/c types usually attending these shows. So even though the traffic may be a little bit bad on a Sunday afternoon and some of the vintage aircrafts didn’t appear, you should try having one or no airshow a year and see what that’s like. Maybe you will be a little bit more happy with what you get, traffic, parking and no Vulcan included.:D
Some interesting posts here.
As posted, corrotion seems to be the issue in most cases. If they had been quicker and with a nose for “future business” they should have gotten into this 40 years ago. The channel isn’t really the most clean waters in the world either I would think. Anyways, better not think of this as the potential of a few hundreds Lancasters being corroded away since the war makes me wanna cry.
So in conclusion, probably nothing is left out of the ordinary. Very sad. Can’t keep picking up planes from Norwegians fjords in all eternity! 😀
My father used to buy Flypasts in the 80’s and early 90’s. I grew up with Spitfires, Mustangs and WW2 fighter aircraft.
It’s been with me for as long as I remember. It’s natural. 😀
Amazing achievement. Im in awe over those guys.
Spitfire MkVb
Hawker Tempest V
P-51 Mustang D
Westland Whirlwind
F-86 Sabre
Wonderful news! The book is one of my absolute faves
Imagine all that work on your Hurricane and now that happened just shortly after it was finally done. It must be a nightmare. 🙁
When you guys go to a football match, do you say the same thing?
“Yeah..same old..a ball, a ref, players, a bunch of spectators and perhaps a few goals if were lucky..same old story”.
I was not aware that the Hurricane had a fuel tank between the engine and the cockpit, I always thoought the Hurricane’s fuel was all carried in wing tanks.
One of the reasons Hurricane pilots got horribly burned yes?
I heard the same thing, I think it was from the Mosquito at War DVD I bought. They said that the Mosquito was so fast and so hard to get, they granted a pilot 2 kills if they got one of them.
The NRK article says that the plane flipped over or turned around during the lift which meant a lot of stuff fell out and into the sea/bottom of the sea again.
But all in all I think it was a success?
Why waste taxpayers money with an irrelevant (to the public) public report when that effort is better spent keeping these beautiful aircraft in the air?
Because news about the planes we love are precious to us.
A short news mention on a website hardly waste taxpayers money IMO. :p
