Now that’s just silly.
Excuse me for having a bit of standards then 😀
I for one am seething. The blogosphere had suggested that there was going to be a tailchase of 15 PZL.24s and then a mock dogfight between 8 Finnish Morane Saulnier 406s and 6 Yugloslavian IAR 80s. And what do we get? Spitfires and Mustangs. Blimey, I think I’ll stay at home with my collection of Koolhoven vacforms.
Speak for yourself. I expected 15 Hawker Tempests and B-24 Aerobatics. :diablo:
I think it’s meant to portray a sophisticated ‘seen it before’ world-weariness
I didnt think it was humanly possible to come up with a ‘sophisticated’ sigh “Ill stay at home” when it came to 15 Spits and 7 P-51’s.
You’ll stay at home since its Spits and Mustangs??
Maaan….if its not crazy it’s certainly top grade snobbery
The crew of the Halifax

Last year, they had free busses going from the train station to Duxford every 20 minutes or so. The same back to Cambridge. We got off the train and jumped straight onto the bus.
I don’t know why it is, but they all go to DX, the OW crowds are fantastic, and that is a very small crowd line, the Mildenhall ones used to be, apart from the brain deads who used to take their dogs, why the USAAF used to allow that is beyond me, dogs and fast jets are a bad combination.
I’m not in a position to make any theories. All Im saying is that when I went last year I had absoluetely no problems. Yes, I heard the guy on the speaker telling people to stop standing in the seating area. Now I wasnt in the seating area but rather somewhere down the road close to a few of those airliners placed there and had no problems with anything.
How people go when they have no interest is beyond me, but I have not experienced so first hand. Guess we’ll see in July.
I don’t understand the stuff about the crowds and obnoxious people.
I was standing just a bit away from the biggest crowd, had a fantastic view, no stupid people with cameras messing up my view…be happy so many people comes to these shows, without all those people there would be no airshows.
He talks about it, but then he refers to Cato Gunfeldt’s excellent book “Fornebu 9th of April”, but there are some very interesting things in there.
Something about the people on the ground forgetting to reload his guns when he comes down after the first sortie for example. 🙂
This might be a retarded question, but please please bare with me and my ignorance.
Why isnt Pink Lady coming over?
I will arrive in Cambridge on Friday…noonish…togheter with my dad this time around. He got so jelous over my stories from last year he desperately needed to go. 😀
Im not sure about Friday, but we will be there on Saturday doing the VIP Gold Pas thingy this time around and propably be there Sunday as well.
Will most likely hang out at the eagle in Cambridge during the weekend too.
Well Im coming a long way to see the show..just like last year. Wouldnt miss it. I fear I will be going back every year… 😀
That looks about right….
I forgot it had invasion stripes 🙂 Ill provide some good pictures sooner or later…
It would have been amazing to see the Me262 to say the least…
Now that you mentioned it. I have photographs of PL965 with the norwegian flags and the coloured spinner.
It had the name “Silje” written on one or both sides of the cocpit as well. I might be able to scan these photos later.
