I figured as much!! 🙂 During this 92 (or 93?) historic show and the two airshows at Gardermoen in 94 and 95, it was Mark Hanna flying 434. I just wasnt 100% sure about this one. As far as I know then, it’s only 434 thats been to Norway the last 30 or 40 years or something.

I have never really introduced myself either.

Im way above average interested in ww2 aviation especially. 25 years old..student.

Went to Duxford in 2005..my first time. Absolutely blown away by seeing 7 or 8 Spits flying past me. Going again this year with my father, he’s just like me, very interested indeed.

My field of knowlegde so to speak mostly involves the norwegian fighter squadrons during ww2 and its pilots, but I have also been lecturing junior high school students in Norway about Battle of Britain for a day. I liked that a lot 🙂

Sorry for bumping this back up.

    But.

I discovered the pilot and the crews graves last night, by accident.

I was jogging in a suburban area of Lillehammer when I saw a sign that said “Commonwealth war graves”.

30 or so British soldiers were buried there, alongside the crew of the Halifax and the pilot A. Turnbull, DFC. I belive one member of the crew survived the crash in 1945.

Marius Eriksen of 332 Squadron during WW2 took off from North Weald once and retracted his undercarriage a bit too fast…the props barely touched the ground and they were bent forward, not backwards. They didnt see it until he came back from his sortie.

    Very lucky chap.

Actually, I had one ordered for me last year going to Duxford.

It says “132 Norwegian Wing – Heroes of North Weald”

On the back it says “Be aware of the Hun in the sun”.

And the tee was printed in Germany. 😀

Thatched House in Epping were used frequently by Norwegian pilots from 331 and 332 squad when operating from North Weald in 41-44
