TU-134A MAN – Dubrovnik 1972 compared to a 1-11 very spacious, even had sets of 4 seats facing each other with a table like on train
MAN-PALMA could have been a British Airtours 707-436, i did that trip in 1974
Gerona could have been a Dan-Air Comet
quebec could have been an air Canada DC-8
HOPE THAT HELPS
Orian Airways of the late 70s early 80s was very smart with the brown and orange
the final BWIA livery was colourful but a bit disjointed
and the starter of them all Courtline of the 70s, how fun it was to fly in a pink 1-11
Dare is say a don’t think a Lufhansa pilot would “give way” in any language
bet they hate joining the “queue ” for the runway too:)
if you ask John Travolta nicely he may fly you somewhre:p
used on the Plymouth run
used to see them come over in the golf course at Elfordleigh
which airport was this the TCX 757 based?
i am going Gatwick to Turin 28th March and 1 am expecting a 757
originally we were on the MAN – Turin flight but this got cancelled was expecting an A320 on that flight.
best
Walney Airfield (Barrow-in-furness) turn up 15 mins before flight show the Pilot you BAE pass and your off
TAG Terminal Farborough all i can say is “if Carlsberg did airports”
worst
St Johns Antigua, concidering the economy is reliant on the 600 holiday makers that arrive every Friday on 2 flights (was 800 on 3 but sadly the BMI -MAN route has now gone) the time to get through imigration and be hassled by porters to carry your case 15 metres is an extreme experience, and then 2 weeks later when you do it in reverse!!!!!!! queue to check in, queue to pay your leaving tax, queue to get through security, not be able to find a seat in the lounge, and risk arrest by taking photos of passenger airliners (no not joking)
fond memories spring to mind of an Aviogenex TU-134A flight from MAN to Dubrovnik in 1972 on a package holiday, also going to Corfu on a Laker 1-11 400.
by the way was the 1-11 475 series the GTI of the series, in terms of short fuselage and large engines?
speeking of Kemble
why can’t the shift the Britannia from Kemble to Filton and get a fantastic Bristol avaiation museum set up beside concorde, 7 years of nothing since she flew there and then someone fell of the steps!!!!!!!!:(
the DC8 i have seen was always parked at the southwest end of the run way in the fire training area, the body looked intact but was missing engines
this was from Oct 2007 to dec 2009, although sometimes she wasn’t there and then she would return again
i have been flying into Filton monthly for the past 2 years, and it has been sad to see the DC-8 loosing engines while parked at the fire simulation bay, when i first saw it she had 3 engines, but about 4 months ago when she was last out there i think there was possibly just 1 or none.
by the way did you know a DC-8 was the first airliner to break the sound barrier!
our BAE King air had the same done to it at Walney airfield, Barrow
the local paper interviewed the pilot Shaun Connor
shame tcx have dropped BMI for its spare work we had an excellent flight to Milan with them skiing 2 winters ago
well i guess with al of tuesdays TCX long haul to Man being diverted to Gatwick, and the wednesdays Gatwick TCX being diverted to Man things are a bit stretched at TCX
