we did a toronto trip in 2004 using Lufthansa from Manchester via Frankfurt
we went on Thursday morning and came back overnight Sunday
while there we toured toronto, and cn tower etc, and also did a coach trip to Niagara.
recomend the Downtown Novotel in Toronto its only 400m from the station, which is where the airport shuttle bus drops and picks up, also it is the theatre area so lots of nice eating places.

Air Furness, they ran for about 3 years, but packed in during the 3 month strike at the shipyard in the summer of 1988, due to a lot of workers not taking holidays. The also did mail work from the IOM and had one mishap when a pilot forgot to switch fule supplies and was forced to land on Southport beach, they didn’t make the high tide line, and the plane was flooded later.
the fare to Manchester from Barrow was £13 one way.
i use Walney now about once a month for return flights to Filton on the BAE Kingair aircraft.

like the bit about it being Manchester-Leeds/Bradford, as Manchester is as close to Leeds as Girona is to Barcalona. About 7 years ago Ryannair had a peak at Walney Airport (near Barrow-in-furness), not sure what that would have been branded as? perhaps Lancaster/Barrow airport.
Still waiting to see what comes of Carlisle Airport, i have heard of big freight expansion by Eddie Stobart, but not sure what passenger services are planned.

hi again, the old folks are toying with Ventura for this winter, there is one advantage too, cos Ventura is so big they cannot fly everyone in and out in 1 day so she has a 24+ hour stop over in Barbados, enabling passnegers to get a night time run ashore if they want to.
it will be either a330 or 767
i think they cram the A330s a bit ie 3-3-3, where the old BMI ones were 2-4-2.

Is this is the 1000th to be delivered? therefore the 340-600 that went over the wall at Toulouse will not be on the list

My old folks did it this January, you want to hope your on the first flight!
As Thomas Cook run 3 planes from Manchester to Barbados for P&O and they ally depart at 30 min intervals (well thats the plan) if your on the first one you won’t have any queues when you get off!!!!! are you Oceana?

    air pockets

i think a lot of what happened to the Air France plane is down to weather
ok i have only flown across the Atlantic baout 6 times, but on one return leg on a BWIA A340 in the middle of the night when most were asleep or dozing the plane what can only called a step in the air, there was a sudden drop, the engines auto throttled back and then powered up again, it was over in 2 seconds, but i would say everyone was then awake, no mention was made of it by the crew and the flight completed as normal.
