Are there any plans to add radar blockers in Su-35’s intakes?

Just to be fair MiG-25 did score several kills during Iran-Iraq war. The victims were 1 F-4E, 1 F-4D, 1 RF-4, EC-130, and Syrian MiG-21R. Also according to ACIG several Iranian aircraft were lost to unspecified Iraqi aircraft.

It doesn’t, I assure you. Try to find me a photo showing them deployed, you should find the experience instructive 😉

    I assure you it does.

Nope, no such thing on the Foxhound.

MiG-31 does have leading edge slats, but they are only used for subsonic cruise.

Cola, in the video above it took 22sec for F-15 to complete the turn, which is about 16.36deg/sec.

“The instantaneous “corner velocity” for the F-15A at a combat load (half fuel and all the missiles) was given as 385 knots at medium altitude (10-20,000ft) and would generate about 15 degrees per second turn rate.”
“…This is a higher airspeed – approximately 425 knots for an F-15A at combat weight…Because it is a higher speed, the turning circle is slightly larger and the rate at which the F-15 goes around it is correspondingly reduced to about 12.5 degrees per second.” This is an excrept from “Eagles Engaged” by Steve Davies and Doug Dildy (F-15 pilot).

“To give some idea of the problem, F-20 sustained turn at Mach 0.9 at 15,000ft was just 9.7 deg/sec. This compared poorly against 12.8 deg/sec for the F-16 (variant not specified) and 11.8 deg/sec for the F-15, and was little better than the 9deg/sec of the F-4E.” “Designed For The Kill” by Mike Spick.

What will happen to Hungarian MiG-29s after they will be retired this year? Are there any plans to sell them to other Fulcrum operators like Poland, Bulgaria or Slovakia?

What was Eritrean MiG-29 been doing at Russian airshow? There is well-weathered Russian AF MiG-23MLD behind it. Is it a photoshoped image?

    Not really.
Mig29 in video you posted earlier does clean 15sec turn without rolling in and that doesn’t take 3 seconds either, but under 1, usually.

As for that Rafale video, I’ve sent PM to arthuro and I hope he still got it somewhere.

I think this is the Rafale video that you mentioned.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJqx9X85AAQ
However, it takes 14 sec for Rafale to complete the turn, and the camera view is changed from in-cockpit to external and back, so exact timing cannot be determined.

Just cancel the trillion dollar “Buy Low Income Voter Plan” AKA “Healthcare Reform”.

Well-being of people is more important than any airplane, no matter how capable or high-tech it is.

The only reason why Su-33 was chosen over MiG-29K was Sukhoi political clout. MiG-29K had more modern (at that time) radar (N010), better ECM and RWR equipment, was compatible with R-77 and PGMs. Also, Su-27K/33 cannot take off with a full fuel load, therefore, Flanker’s advantage in range and payload is questionable.

    Jepp thats right.
When reading what really happend in the Georgian Conflict Aug 2008,
i get the feeling that Russian air units often where thrown into battle sorties before sufficant SEAD and intel taken place.

The Su-25 is equivelent the A-10, a CAS unit.

US never would have sent in the A-10 before they felt the treat picture was low enough, like in Desert storm and Iraq.

    Thanks

Su-25 was not designed for SEAD/Wild Weasel missions. During Cold War that mission was to be performed by MiG-27M/K or Su-17M3/4 which had much better EW equipment, precision, and flight performance. Unfortunately for the Russian AF, when it was decided to retire all Floggers and Fitters the replacement aircraft such as MiG-29M was never procured. This situation will continue until suitable multi-role aircraft like Su-34, MiG-35 will be introduced in significant numbers.

F-15C in clean configuration can take off in 900 feet, which is about 300 meters. That is better than 400-500m take off distance of the Flanker or F-16, and slightly more than 240m of MiG-29.

    LOL

Many Iraqi fighters like MiG-23MS/BN and MiG-21 lacked RWR systems and were unaware that they were under attack. One former US F-15 pilot commented that in training exercises a 30 degree turn was enough to break F-14’s lock and negate AIM-54.
