HQ-9 is NOT indigenized S300!!!
Yup,licence produced may be reasonable.
Is that a Top-plate on the mast of the 051C?
It is not an exact russian Top-plate, but a Chinese reverse engineering product called “Sea Eagle”S/C radar. The “Sea Eagle”S/C radars are in mass production for 051C,052B and 054A warships.

China’s first generation cruise missile:SY-2A
Derive from SY-2 anti-ship missile.
Guidance:terrain match+GPS/INS
Engine:Turbojet
This is the first time I saw China’s offical magazine introducing China’s land-attack cruise missile.
But how you know it’s J10B? Just because somebody used photoshop or somthing to add a caption?
This’s a good example on how words just spreaded across the BBS rooms
I added the caption. I have my source. To believe or not believe is up to you.
It confirms, that China reaches in 2005 the engine-technology level of the 1974-1985 period.
Yeah, for T/W=8 engine,China is 20 years behind the western countries and Russia. Howerver,China is catching up for the next generation aero engine(T/W=10). The core engine of T/W=10 already got success, reported by China’s offical media.
Another – second – post made by “sales” was added at CDF:
Can anyone help with a translation ?????
Cheers, Deino 😀
Nothing is informative except the comparison table. It’s obvious that WS-10A is closer to F110 rather than AL-31.
Some examples of the Japanese air power
the FIRST designed jet engine in asia F3IH30 that powers the T-4
First??it seems wrong. How about China’s WS-11 that has been in mass production for 3 years. Kunlun already in service(J-8F), WS-10A in the final 450 long term test. WS-6(1960-1980) very close to type approval.
Dongdong2, why are you trying to bring back a dead thread?
because this is a dedicated JH-7 thread,so I post new JH-7/7A pics here.
The attached pic was scanned from Chengdu No.611 Insititute’s brochure The CG works of twin-engine J-10 may be based on the plane on it,as well as the pic leaked on Zhuhai Airshow.
add new pics to the old thread. 🙂 I like the thread,It’s the first thread I post pic using the name iamdongdong that doest work anymore.
The JH-7’s pod pic scanned from Chinese aviation mag.Other pics may be old.
Around 900 with around 300 being J-7E or J-7G models.
and China has exported about 600 J-7s to world markets. The attached picture was taken in early 1990. It shows the ceremony of exporting 400 J-7s

Naval version of J10 should be better said to be an idea only existing in all the Internet BBS rooms 😀
We could not deny any chances, it will always be a chance. however, you judge yourself when the chance of modifying an existing single engine powered J10 to shipborne fighter is next only to design a total new plane in difficulties. Then you know how is the chance you can expect.
CAC of course will further develop twin engine powered platform with some stealth figures in the coming years. But many developments will be based on the know-how from J10.
J10 at this moment is fine, in production with a Russian engine. However, it’s also the moment we should draw more our attention to the North where the SAC located now. The j11B hopefully can be in mass production next year. And wait patiently to see its twin-seated version (J11C?), at that time, we probably will know the 1st shipborne fighter ever is emerging 😎
The Chinese fans CG pictures are not only based on imagination but also based on various leaked information or reality. An example is the Type99 tank, its early CG picture was exactly same as the real one.
I don’t think the naval version of J10 is a big challenge to No.611 Insititute and CAC, it will use mature technologies. It’s said the protoype will fly within 3 years. The naval version of J11 may be too big to be with China’s middle sized carriers. A rafale sized fighter may be better in terms of quantity in carriers.
Attached pics are a well-know “official” picture of twin-engine J-10, and an interesting CG pic of naval J-10 vs.F-15.
