‘They gave me a Seafire’ is a very good read, as is ‘Avenger from the sky’ is another good one. Both cover the FAA in the Pacific.

Cracking journalism.
First the T11 is described as a WW2 fighter and it is apparently one of only two T11s in the UK! Where do they get these muppets
And don’t forget that India gets a nice, juicy £1 billion in ‘aid’ from the UK each year. That’ll buy a few helicopters!
Shame the UK Government don’t spend the money to assist our struggling armed forces.
The last RIAT I went to was at Boscombe Down in the early nineties. There was about 2 miles of static line, wingtip to wingtip! The flying programme was full of eastern European exotica and all the RAF aircraft were wearing their Gulf War 1 markings. Even got a flight in a IL-18 for some silly cheap price.
This show reminded me of the old Woodford show or similar. Full marks for effort though and I think that current events have to be taken into account. (I still think that if a Vixen is advertised, then it should do more than a quick flypast)
It would appear that India is doing a good job of spending the £1 billion in ‘aid’ that the UK provides every year.
That money would buy a lot of kit for our troops currently fighting and dying in Afghanistan.
The Patrick Bishop book is superb (as is his Fighter Boys).
“We’ve now got a ticking, toxic time bomb and we’re going to live in a nightmare haze of toxicity for the rest of our lives. We live in a town where we’re breathing it every day of our lives.”
😀 Think of the children!!
Did that chap ever have a Scimitar in his yard?
He had a Sea Hawk. The aircraft in that yard are in a dire state and cannot be long for this world.
The Hunter spoken of is/was at Longdon. You can’t see it from the road anymore.
Nope. The Iranians put the helicopters into service.
Israel and Egypt both flew Spitfires in the late 40’s.
I was in the funny coloured Volvo that went past with lots of flashing lights 🙂
That £1 billion pounds of ‘aid’ the UK gives them every year is coming in very handy. Just a shame it’s not spent on kit for UK Forces.

Thanks. She looked like that when I spent every weekend curled up inside her. 🙂
