I just nearly fell off my chair. I spent many, many cold hours working on XD534 when I was a teenager. Took me about a month of solid work with an impact driver to remove the floor. We also swapped a complete Vulcan Instrument panel for the canopy.

Said goodbye to it when I joined the Navy. Last time I saw it, it had been moved to Barton in Manchester. Any pics of it in it’s current condition.

Good to see they can afford it. I’m sure the £1 billion in aid the UK gave recently has been well spent.

    Pity the Royal Navy’s bankrupt.

So, using your own argument, you’re suggesting that ambulance/fire are at incidents their whole shift. Errr no! They are called out to a few incidents a day (fire), ambulance a few more. If there is any hint of danger, they hold off and wait for Police attendance.

Try working on a shift of four, covering five hundred square miles with no back up and see how you feel then. (Ever been stabbed with a screwdriver, hit with a baseball bat or been spat at by some HIV infested scroat….thought not)

Unless you’re doing front line uniform response, you have no idea just what goes on. There are some lazy, useless officers, normally feathering their own nests, working 9×5 in an office or in a ‘community’ role. But response are undermanned, overworked and have been shat upon from a great height by this morally corrupt Government we currently have.

If it’s such an easy job, I’m surprised you’re not all queuing to join.

(Disregard the three officers shot, six seriously stabbed -minor stabbings don’t count apparently, hundreds seriously assaulted in the first three weeks of this year)

If you want to know what it’s REALLY like, check this site out.

There are many factors in this. For example in Spilsby, the ATC allowed the hut to be sold off and the land along with the swimming pool next to it, for housing. Then they wonder why gangs of youths are hanging around doing nothing.

I am puzzled why the memorial was never built near Scampton. I guess 617 did a lot more ops from Woodhall, but I know very little about the “other” missions.

Besides I am sure that if Woodhall had a proper Police Force somebody in such a “community” could have raised the alarm. Went I went to the station in woodhall, I found it shut at 5.00 with an old dear cleaning the floor. What sort of use is that? “Come back in the morning”, reminds me of Monty Python.

The fact is our Police are out of touch and think that giving out leaflets about political correctness is the way forward. They are not in touch with youth at all. I had a long chat with an inteligent inspector in Hull who would love to interact with the young community. However everything he tried was quashed. A sgt at skegness admitted that getting blacks on their side was a no go, because most coppers DO detest them, regardless of whatever politically correct whitewash we are told.

They have no idea how to tackle rural crime. Most “old school” coppers live in the 1950s and most crims laugh at them.

What is difficult about highlighting trouble spots and keepin an eye on them on at the w/e?

BLAME THE POLICE AND TELL THEM THIS INCIDENT IS THEIR FAULT.

Never have I read such complete and utter drivel….get a life!

Turkey was going to get some a few years back, but it didn’t happen for reasons I can’t remember.

Are you sure that this is the same one that was in the Air and space museum. I remember it being immaculate when displayed.

I spent many an hour restoring the pod of XD534 a good few years ago. I fact we swapped a complete Vulcan instrument panel for the canopy. Last I heard of it, it was at Barton with ‘our’ other pod, ex Iraqi AF 333 (with old framework style canopy)

I would love to have them, but I think distance is a problem.
