anything to do with Vickers Viscounts, British Air Ferries or Southend airport!
the white one was XR363 (civil reg G-OHCA) and the Heavylift one was XR367 (G-BFYU). They were finally cut up around 2001.
ok, Ive never actually uploaded a picture before, if someone could tell me how and whether there are limits to size etc, then I will try and upload this image I have. I did try the seach but couldnt find anying on it.
Cheers
Jamie
XR367 was registered G-BFYU, after looking on airliners.net for BFYU, there are images of it in a very derelict state. One photo caption suggests it was scrapped during 2001. I also seem to remember it being next to XR363 which was also scrapped around the same time.
wasnt the a Lincoln at the Southend Historic Aircraft Museum? Im sure my dad said it it flew in?
No not yet. Was hoping to go next month or so, but due to the missus wanting to get married ( big day saturday 23rd) it doesn’t look like I will get there until about january Im afraid!
Jaybeebee mentioned the one on Ebay a few months ago.
From what I remember, the ad said item was based in Westcliff, although I think actually it was in Hanningfield Metals yard
The fuselage of one of the queens flight Andovers was being offerd for sale some time back on ebay along with the cockpit of Viscount G-AOHL.
Its a pity their site isn’t running due to hackers! 🙁
I take it you mean the one in the closing shot? Im sure I read somewhere that it was derelict at the helicoper museum?
Gutted I missed it! 😡 Isn’t it about time she was returned to the air too????
