If I won that much, Id attempt to buy wisley airfield , then buy Brookland Vanguard, a Viscount, VC10 and recreate the whole Vickers test flights all over!
hopefully if this one does get airworthy, it will stay based in the uk!!!!!!
not quite related, but does anyone know what the turboprop was that u see taking off in Moonraker. Sounds like its got Rolls Royce Darts, its confused me for ages?
I bought 2 big training manuals and engineers notes off ebay not so long back. They are a whole wealth of information!
Did somebody mention an Air Atlantique Viscount…..
….not part of our current plans, but in the future you never know. If the powers that distribute lottery money fancied another big aviation project after the Vulcan (you never know, you can but ask!) then maybe something like this that celebrates British civil aviation would fit the bill nicely!
PS. For anybody looking for a Viscount nose for a garden shed/exhibit, there is a fairly battered one at Hanningfield Metals, in Stock, Essex that would make a good starting point for a project! It was there a couple of months ago when I last looked!
The cockpit is still available, they have The afore mentioned Andover fuselage on ebay, asked the selled and they said that the cockpit still
available!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!
the cockpit of G-AOHL is still up for grabs!!!!
If anyones interested, ebays got ex queens flight Andover complete fuselage up for grabs. £4500 opening bid? Its item number 6593973845
It would also be great to see the Brookland Vanguard airborne too . Shame theyve done away with the runway there! 🙁
We could always do what Vickers did and attempt to bolt on a couple of jet engines :p Seriously, this idea of getting an airworthy or making an airworthy viscount sounds great. When i lived in Southend used to love the sound of them!!! On a different website I mentioned about bringing home a Carvair to Southend as being 29 I dont remember them flying but have seem picures. Unfortunately nothing came of it 🙁 Was told by a member of the group at the time that the Carvair couldnt fly here because there were no design plans available for the craft which was the same reason that the Bruntingthorpe Comet couldnt take to the skys again, i dont know how true that is tho so dont quote me on this! But, yes, I am definitely in favour of helping in anyway to get a Viscount (or Carvair) flying here again!
gutted!
I am Viscount mad! Imagine how gutted I was when I found the cockpit of G-AOHL on ebay for just £500!!!! Lack of space and the missus stopped me from buying 😡 The same seller also has a complete Andover fuselage ex Queens flight for sale aparently its still kitted out inside £4500….I must get myself a house with a bigger garden!!!!!!!!!!!!
