(Quote)You guys consistently ignore the fact that Ahmadinejad has no real ability to direct the Iranian military. He’s a blowhard, he can say whatever he wants but in the end it makes no real difference because he isn’t really calling the shots.(Quote)
Blowhard or not, his nation is still in the process of developing an islamic bomb., whether we believe hehas very little power within the militatary or not, this is a very dangerous strategy;)
Really? Apart from an 8 year conflict with Iraq, what real problems has Iran caused in the region? Personally I don’t think the Middle East will ever be settled simply due to the large multitude of religious sects that are in play (Sunni, Shi’a, etc).
Arming and training Hezbollah, aswell as being strongly thought of being behind last years lebanon crises is one:rolleyes:
Pure coincidence. The build up in the Gulf is about the next faliure to restore order in Iraq. With the state of Iraq as it is you can forget any major ground operation against Iran. If the US does anything it will be a massive first day of war air strike designed to smash as much Iranian military infrastructure as possible- think shock and awe with more shock and more awe.
From the point of view of Iran, if they just keep backing Shia forces in Iraq and just wait for the seemingly inevitable US/coalition withdrawral they could find themselves being in posession of Southern Iraq as part of expanded Shia republic. That would dramatically alter the balance of power in the middle east.
Totally agree..
My thoughts were that the increase in US ground forces, was a defensive move, rather than an offensive one:)
Scarey stuff Tango III…
Im intrigued with the report of UK minesweepers having been sent to the Gulf, since this would suggest that something is actually afoot??
This coupled with another CBG, and Washingtons proposed troop surge within Iraq makes very interesting theories…
Is something actually being prepared for, or is it just coincidence?

After see how beautiful is life i can only say wars are things i hope we do not suffer, life is too precious to be wasted in wars
Very true my friend..:)
Neither nuclear-armed USA nor nuclear-armed Israel have any business attacking Iran. ESPECIALLY the latter, what with the value they put on territorial sovereignty and all. So Ahmadinejad talks about wiping Israel off the map, so what? A lot of world leaders threaten other nations with far less international fanfare. We’re only supposed to really care in this case because it’s Israel.[/QUOTE
A Madman who will in a year or two, have the means to do just that…and whats more, a man who believes it is his birthright to bring about world armageddon.
And we are supposed to ignore it:eek:
The trouble is, we have been running around all over the place, ignoring the real problem in the middle east for way too long…
If the world wants a settled Middle east, then it needs to take the bull by the horns and deal with Iran..
If true, any Isreali nuclear attack on Iran will bring about an Iranian responce of chemical or biological weapons hurled at Isreali Cities from Lebanon aswell as Iran..
Then what does Isreal do???
Then we are in an whole new ball game, since we will all find ourselves in a war between two cultures, with the inevitable risk of this Iranian nutter having acheived his birthright!!
There is no option here, this needs to be dealt with today, since there may be no tomorrow.
Problem is, Bush and Blairs Iraqi adventure has proberly done more in strengthening the mullahs, since there will now be no public desire for a western strike on Iran..
What a mess… i bet this would not have happened during the cold war:D

Strato mate….ive already posted it:rolleyes: 😀
Hope these make you feel better!

Howzit guys, I took the photo of Luanda airbase on Saturday 25th or Sunday 26th February this year. The aircraft were there for the Angolan Air Force anniversary celabrations.
I was lucky enough to see flypast formations of Allouette 3, Bell 212, Mi 8/17, Antanov 26, An 76,Tucano, L 29, Mig 23 and SU 27. Also watched in awe the Su 27 solo display! Alas, security was onto me the moment I took my camera out.
The photo mentioned was taken the following day as I flew over the base. I have a few more photos taken in sequence but the camera is a real “El cheapo”. I have them on my laptop which is U/S at the moment, will post them as soon as its fixed.
Firstly, welcome to the thread:cool:
Its still an amazing photo, and our hats are off to you sir, for obtaining it.

Hmmm, wasn’t it ‘Flogger’ in one of his many rants that stated:
‘Libya has no MiG-23ML but MiG-23MS and MiG-23MF’
This must be first photographic proof of an ML in Libyan service?
Someone correct me if I’m wrong?
Did the US shoot a Libyan example down over the gulf of Sidre during the Eighties??
I am sure that i recall a rather grainy B/W image of the incident in an old AFM magazine from 1988/9?:)
Im almost certain that over the next few weeks or Month, we shall be seeing a few more Photos from this particular event:cool:
I for one, cant wait!!!
Which “these people” is he referring to? I’d agree that all the political BS gets old as does the nationalistic crap but it’s pretty much unavoidable unless the forum lays down some laws and boots people who don’t abide by them. (Which I sorely wish they’d do but oh well)
Agreed.
However, this site is pretty tame compared to some other military forums ive seen on the net.
I may be wrong here, but he may of been refering to how any simple thread, is quickly turned into some nationalistic flame war.
Hell, ive even had some fool trying to start a flame war over a simple joke i had posted:eek: 😀
Basicly, i think some people only jion forums with the sole purpose to rant and rave.
