Taliban?

This SU.22 seems a lot fresher than most wrecks found within Afghanistan, and was photographed shortly after the invasion. Of note is the painted over national insignia on the tail…..is this machine therefore taliban?

Googler, I think it is the other way round. It was an Air Wing of NDF from 2000 to 2005. After 2005 it was commissioned as a NAF. I would there conclude that NDF is the old marking and NAF the newer. See here: http://www.mod.gov.na/n_item1.htm

Wrong…NDF is in fact the new code.

The photo that Googler has kindly submiited is around two years old.

The photo was taken this year, at an Airshow in Namibia. Another photo on the same page shows a Harbin Y-12 with same code.

You may be correct about the change back to Air Force, but the NDF code is the current one:cool:

The Nambian Air force is quoted as a branch of the Namibian Defence Forces, and is referred to, as the Nambian Defence Forces – Air Wing.

The change in coding proberly eminates from 2000, when all branches of the Military were brought under one umbrella. ( The Navy was formed in 2004 i think:confused: ).

Although coded NDF, i think this change is made when the particular Aircraft is sent for overhall ect. ( Unless a batch is ordered as new), since some Aircraft seemed to carry the NAF code for a while after 2000.

Pakistan Huey II

2 Pakistan Army Huey IIs. One in the usual overall olive drab scheme, and the other in the new scheme thats being applied to its Cobras.

Plus an Italian built AB-205

And as a bonus, the Air forces sole AN.26 on the ramp at chaklala, shortly before being put into store.

Banshee post #410 with the Dominican Beech Duchess. I believed its a promo by Beech in the 70s. They had a flying club with a roundel looking markings. Mostly on Musketeers. A close look at the roundel will show its not Dominican.
