Hmmmm, worst looking I would have to give to the SAAB J29 Tunnan. They called it a barrel for a reason! Prettiest is a toss up between the SR-71(it just simply looks fast even sitting on the ground motionless), the RF101 Voodoo(very clean lines and once again it looks like it’s going mach 1 sitting on the ramp), the Mig-21(what a looker, and from any angle), and finally I really liked the F-16XL with the cranked arrow wing. It’s a shame it never went into production.

The T-6’s were out in force! The sound of the Vampire passing over is quite impressive!

This is a hard one! It’s a toss up between a SE5A or an F-16. How about if I just take both!

Yes they had two P-3s and two P-2s working the fire. It was pretty awesome seeing them turn them that quickly. As the day warmed up the P-2s kept sinking lower and lower on takeoff. The Orions though were having no problem.

    Cheers

Thanks for posting those Gary…are they Lockheed P-3 Orion’s in the first shot???

Just like I like being able to watch aircraft fly I also like being able to get close to aircraft but I have never been into touching them more than is necessary to get into the aircraft. But, there are some aircraft that really need to be protected and people not allowed to touch them and Flakbait is an excellent example. I saw her about 5 years ago and the amount of paint damage that I saw from my previous visit 20 years previous was amazing. Those types of aircraft are truly windows to the past and if the damage is allowed to continue within the next 20 years you will have a bare fuselage….and that will be a crime.

Yes that is a .50 Cal ammo box for either a B-25 with the solid gun nose or you also see them in the A-26, B-17, B-24 etc. There is a roller missing that helps roll the belt to the weapon.

    Cheers

The problem sir is that if you go to Iran, or Saudi Arabia or Oman, you are required to observe their rules, customs and laws. If they come to our country why shouldn’t they be required to do the same?

    Gary

Most of the views expressed so far are the usual self righteous hypocritical garbage that has typified western views of Islam for many years and more yet to come.

Why does it bother people in the West what Muslim women CHOOSE to wear?

What gives the West the right to dictate to other religions, cultures etc?

Do you really think there are similar conversations going on in Muslim countries about what Western womern wear or that most people over there actually give a damn?

Have you ever seen a Muslim leader or politician dictating to the West how people should live or what to wear? I’ve never seen King Abdullah telling Western women what to wear or what not to wear…

I am wondering how many of you have actually seen an F-22 fly? I was at last years Reno air races(heck I am at all of them for that matter) and while they were not able to demonstrate their SC ability they were able to demonstrate their low speed low altitude zero energy flight regime….and it was pretty damned impressive! The takeoff run was very short followed by an immediate climb to around 1000m. All at a very leisurly pace. At no time did the aircraft ever seem to be struggling even though it spent most of its time at high angles of attack. Other than a couple of high speed passes to thrill the crowd the entire program was low and slow. At one point it climbed to around 1000m and cut power at the top and proceeded to spin on its axis for probably 800m till the pilot applied power and flew away. All the time in complete control. High speed flight is all well and good and gets you to the bad guys quickly but after the missles are expended and it becomes a knife fight the F-22 is armed with a Bowie knife while everyone else has a pocket knife.

Additionally there was a German pilot who was part of the MiG 29 evaluation team when Germany took them over from the former owners (he is also rated on the SU27, of which he speaks very highly) and he and I had a good conversation about the merits of the three fighters and he was very impressed with the F-22

    Hello FB,

I searched around and was able to find 3 Piper J3s and the altimeters were all different from this one. They had an internal dial for the higher altitudes, and this altimeter stops at 19,000 feet. They all were white faced instruments though.

Here is a MiG 15 panel I am putting back together. It is from a Polish aircraft but at some point in it’s life it had a bunch of Russian instruments put in so I am taking it back to original. Eventually I will build a cabinet for it and have all of the lights operational as well as the gunsight.
