WTF said anything about me being right wing????

I have no idea where you are from, geographically or socially, though it really doesn’t matter.
As a proud blue collar American, I can tell you that in this instance, “they” have it right.
The average working family IS having to pay more taxes, in part due to illegals who DON’T, IS dealing with increased crime, again, due in part to illegals with no respect for either the law or the country that is providing them with a living, and IS having to fight for jobs against illegal immigrants who shouldn’t be here in the first place.

As far as the United States of North America: Sure, as long as either EVERYONE or NO-ONE plays by the rules. Doesn’t matter to me whether it’s Marquis de Queensbury, or a bar brawl. Just level the playing field.

they portrait illegal imigrant as not paying taxes, increasing crime in the US and taking jobs from americans.

    And “they” are right.

Garry- I understand the “why” of the side x side, and approve of it’s use, esp on a long ranger striker like the Fullback. It just seems that the smaller russian side x side’s always remind me of a spoonbill or some bottom feeding fish :diablo:

As far as the PGM’s, I always envisioned the Fullback providing time-critical, high priority strike. Yeah, if your target is a bunch of rebels in a Toyota, a LGB might be overkill, but I think the Fullback’s comparably small payload suits itself for compact and highly effective weapons, ie: PGM’s or, in another timeline, tactical nukes.

I’m not going to argue tactic’s, I don’t know enough to put myself in a Russian commander’s shoes anyhow.

It does share one characteristic with the F-22 and that is it’s side profile is butt-ugly 😮 From other angles though it looks sweet.

I believe you’re a little skewed there 😉 The side profile is fine, but WTF is it with Russians and UGly side x side cockpits??? I still say it looks like a mid-air between a Flanker and a Alligator.

Still like the plane, will be quite effective if they can assure a plentiful supply of PGM’s for it.

I must admit to a soft spot for the Tu204 but I could live without the awful turquoise cockpit.

I understand the logic behind it, but PLEASE tell me that there is something easy on the eyes that is, well, easier on the eyes.:dev2: :dev2:

    Another explanation:

When the USN retired the Tomcats, that was that, no more. Being the sole operator, the retirement was a single, sharp event.
With a dozen or so operators of the Phantom, most of them still operating them in one capacity or another, any single retirement is diluted by the thought of “Well, at least the USMC/Greece/Turkey/Japan/whomever is still operating them.”

    My two cents,

Regarding carrying 4 torpedos, it would be quite rare to have such a low opinion of ones own torpedos. You are very unlikely to detect and track 4 submarines on one mission and needing to use 4 torpedos on one sub suggests a super sub or a crap torpedo.

A load of 4 anti ship missiles on the other hand makes a bit more sense as overwhelming the defences of a target is a normal and sensible attack option.

It would seem to me, 3 or 4 torpedoes, if they could be carried with an adaquate supply of sono-bouys, would be ideal, given the limitations of ADT’s vs. thier tube launched cousins.

Once the sub is located, use the Helo’s speed advantage to pen the sub in with three drops, preventing any attempt to simply outrange/outrun the torps.

Overwelming the defences is ALWAYS a normal and sensible option, whether the target is a submarine, airplane, or fixed target.

That’s when I read this kind of stuff, that I realize how poor is my grip on the English language… 🙁

Don’t worry, Merlock. When I read this kind of stuff, I realize how much the US and UK are two people seperated by a common language 😀

Or the ‘Filton’, following the tradition of naming transport aircraft after towns, and saluting the Bristol plant’s contribution to Airbus over the years. I would say ‘Bristol’ but then there’d be hell to pay if two of them pitched into the circuit and landed on a bumpy runway.

“There’s a nice pair of Bristols bouncing along…..”

Ok, call me an ignorant American, but

Wonder what would have happened if that Tomcat had inhaled a boatload of fuel.

Back in my university days I had an instructor who was in the USAF on KC-135s. He said they had one mission abort so the tankers had to dump their gas to land. 16 KC-135s dumped 100,000lbs of fuel EACH over Los Angeles. 😮

What kind of mission would have 1.6 million lbs of fuel orbiting LA???

At those ranges, I think most common defenses would be overwhelmed, unless they decided to include a lead Faraday cage as standard equipment on thier drones :diablo: :diablo:

At the very least, a drone of the complexity Iran can put together would lose all communication with the base unit, I REALLY doubt that they have the technology to punch a signal through eleventy-billion watts of interferance.

So, I see 4 possible scenerios, in order of likely hood

1: Electronics “zorched” (Is that a technical term??? ;)) Drone falls from the sky

2: Electronics survive, but the communications interupt causes a loss of control, Drone falls from the sky

3: Electronics survive, primative autopilot keeps the drone in a straight line until communications are restored, or it runs out of gas. probable result; Drone falls from the sky

4: Electronics survive, sophisticated auto pilot brings the drone back to the base station.

    I make it a 60-30-7-3% split.

Hopefully, the F-111 will never or at very rarely get into a WVR Fight…….

Of course, that depends on your perspective, from the seat of a ‘Vark it may be BVR, while it’s WVR of the Mig-21 that’s after it :dev2: :dev2:
