B D G The rest of the systems pretty much demand Mk. 41, we’ve already chosen SM-3 for the ABM. Personally I’d rather stick with the ESSM and free up more space for ASW and land-attack roles, rather then becoming a versitile failure.

Ok, OT and maybe irrevelent, but:
How hard would it be to sling a refueling pod underneath your generic MPA (presumably already set up to receive fuel) and use it to drag an escort along? You’d still need outside tanker support, but substantially less, since all the tanker needs to do is fly out, fill the MPA and return. Of course, I wouldn’t want to bet on the mental alertness of ANY fighter jock after 10-12 hours in the saddle watching a MPA count dolphins…

Doh!!! :o:o:o
Thanks
I stand corrected. I thought U-U was no longer producing Frogfeet (Frogfoots???)
Matt
do you know if they still make them or have they halted production many years ago? do they overhaul them there too?
Repair and overhaul for sure, I don’t know about new builds
Matt
Current or all time?? Because anybody who does not give that title to Spitfire… should be flailed accross their naked butt with large piece of hardwood.
as far as the ugly… beat this
Huh, didn’t know they made a JET spitfire :diablo:
Matt
BTW, what is that a model of???
lol wut? they have bombed thier own frogfoot production facilities? Was it accidental or deliberate? On the news now they have quoted georgian soldiers saying that they are in full retreat from the Russian forces. Bush to speak at 10:15 tonight (uk time)
Not their own, it’s Georgian owned/operated. Just so happens to be the only SU-25 factory.
Matt
Russian Su-25 Frogfoot strike aircraft have twice bombed the Su-25 production facility at Tbilisi airport.”
That’s gotta be one of those forehead-smacking moments.
I wouldn’t like to be the guy who signed off on that… Talk about being between the devil and the deep blue sea… 😮

D would be great if we could integrate it onto the T45’s and leave more room on the T-4X, but lacking that, go with the proven winner.

I think guns should be the main armament, using missiles for special purposes only. BAE and OTO-Melara options give the range and flexibilty needed, and will actually make it into service unlike AGS.

With my main gun choices, the meduim/short range is covered, so you need missiles that add something else, either LOTS of range, or a loitering capability.

Today I had a weird situation with my car. I drove of from a parking lot. At the end of the parking lot I stopped waiting to cross the street. As I pulled up I put the car in second gear, nothing happened. The engine is running, the revs increase and decrease as I press the accelerator, but no power was transferred to the wheels. The clutch felt very light as I pressed it.
So there I stood in Duesseldorf, first time out of country in a long time and this happens to me. How typical is that? Anyway, I shut down the engine, restarted and tried pulling away. No luck. Did this three times, and at the third time the car moved.
The clutch feels a bit heavier then I am used to. It’s not much though. And my car had a rather light clutch to begin with. Right now I’d say my clutch is about as “heavy” as for instance my mum’s Opel/Vauxhall Corsa. So while surprising I do not think it would be threatening.
Other then the heavier clutch everything works without difficulty. Accerating goes as quickly as usual. No sudden surges of power or losses of power. Nothing to indicate any problems except for my nerves going crazy.
The previous owner (a collegue of mine) had the cluth-plates replaced just prior to me getting the car. So that must have been around 3 years / ~50.000 km ago. So these should not be the problem.
FWIW, I got a 1995 VW Golf type 3, 1.6 petrol.
Assuming that there are no serious differences between the European and North American versions, I’d suspect a pinch or blockage in the line that operates the hydrolic clutch. Cycling the clutch like you did must have either cleared the blockage or opened the pinch enough for near-normal operation.
Have it checked out the next time your pocketbook allows, but I wouldn’t do into a tizzy about it. 🙂

I think most people would agree they are talking about a Backfire, not a Blinder I take it?
Seems a little odd a Backfire would be shot down, probably doing low level bombing?
Perhaps not a hostile fire loss???

Among the Russian aircraft, the MiG-29 is hands down the best looking fighter. worst was probably the Flagon.
Among the older jets, it has to be the Hunter..simply stunning lines and curves. a true thoroughbred. 🙂 where the Gnat’s aspect ratio was screwed up, the Hunter’s was just perfect.
another ugly jet is the A-6 Intruder, IMO.
I dont really care for the MiG-29, again, boring. I don’t find the A-6 ugly, just purposeful. Looks best loaded to the gunwales with ordanance, though. 🙂 I agree on the Hunter. It’s the first thing I think of when 50’s Jet fighter comes up. 😉
