    I think the C-130 is just like the Tu-95, B-52, and A-10.

Their future replacements will be the C-130, Tu-95, B-52 and A-10. :diablo:

The whole crux of the matter:

If the Russian people don’t want him in the job they can get rid of him with a ballot paper.

    Can they?

The Russian constitution is hardly set in stone. It is barely a decade old and was mostly written by Americans. We have no law restricting the number of times our PM can remain in office, it is hardly a requirement of democracy.

However, one man leaping from one office to another, with the primary powers of state following his position exactly, is hardly the spirit of democracy.

    Nothing to share, but:

    1: Keep your chin up
2: Don’t let anyone talk down to you for being a “trash-hauling wimp” 😉
3: B-1’s are seriuosly COOL, but man, have you ever visited Dyess or Ellsworth??? YECH!!! 🙁
    4: (And most important.) THANKS!!!

Nooooooo……..the point was the F-35C has longer range and heavier payload than its landbased cousin the F-35A. Regardless, if the F-35C is carrier based or landbased.:diablo: As for handling both have advantages and disadvantages.

My point (rhetorically made) was that comparisons based on CTOL operations are irrevelent in this discussion, since Australia has no CTOL carriers.

In retrospect, I should have added :diablo: , but I thought you had the trademark on that smilie :p :p :p

    When operated land based.

    Australia has CTOL carriers?

The A-4 Skyhawk was primarily a lightweight strike aircraft, who thanks to its designers want for minimal size and weight gave it a good account of itself in self-defence air-to-air combat

Sounds like the ideal for a cheap semi-self escorting fighter 😉

I concede the rest of your post, however.

The only problem that I see with the likes of the A-37 and A-4 (although I agree they were excellent and very capable aircraft in their own right!), is that if Thailand was to go down this path of supporting the U.S and carry out strike missions, then it would need to be able to defend its own aerospace to a degree or self-escort its strike missions.
This is again why I think the F-5A would have been a better option.

At what point did NV have enough air assets to really threaten Thai airspace? Serious question, Viet Nam was before my time, and not a theater I’ve studied much.

What about the A-37? It was in the pipeline at the time, IIRC. It is a jet, which would reduce the political sting of being given a strict attack type.
A-4’s would also be a good all around choice, but I don’t know if we had too many to give away at the time???

    Nice pictures, thanks.

that’s the first time I see a Raptor with drop tanks.
The argument that drop tanks would ruin any stealth feature of the eurocanards has been widely used here to belittle their capacities. What about the Raptor? Is it still a stealth plane in that configuration? Why not designing stealthy droptanks?

In this case, I think ruining the LO was considered a positive, not a negative. Designing ANY kind of external stores to be stealthy on the airframe is going to be quite difficult, it’s easier to go the internal bay route.

Ever been to China or Russia? I’ll tell you, they are HUGE..

BTW, that does not mean I don’t take your argument seriously. But the Chinese and Russian examples show that it can be done differently. Especially given the fact that China has to bring 4-5x more students and pupils in and out of schools thn you do.

Yep, and parts of Russia are ALMOST as desolate as we are 😀 Per the Chinese example- how many Chinese schools have to serve students 50km from the school house?

There are absolutely improvements that can be made, no doubt. However, any foreign examples/models must take into account a geography, population distribution, and culture that are not easily adapted to a Asian/Western Europe mindframe.

    Cheers.

Here’s a prototype drawing which I made a while ago. Don’t mind the colours, they got screwed up due the format change.

Is this scale too small or too large? Obinions and comments appriciated

I also vote for a bit bigger, maybe 10-15%, and 3 view, for sure.
