If it is from a P51 then it should be a Merlin 69, or a V1650
Indeed, the Bucc is interesting to watch, very different.
Don’t let this get out, but I do have a thing for undercarriages!:o
The Lightnings main gear being one of the most fascinating in action.
Have you ever seen a Victor retraction? It’s an awfull lot of leg and a very little space.
Oh, MOD 9 if I recall correctly. My mistake.
It extended the service life by about 400 hours dependant on FI usage. Some 30 F6 airframes were modded.
Thanks Andy,
123 or 12.3? 123 seems a huge amount, or was 728 one of the reworked F.6’s?
The first production F6 (F3a initially) was XR752. Any number earlier than that was a converted F3.
Odd thing to say, wasn’t this the aircraft lost to a major birdstrike?
It went off the end of the runway after the crew thought that they had a bird-strike. They were beyond decision speed but they elected to break off the take off run. Hence they over shot the runway and cat 5’d the airframe.
I’m glad you didn’t do a re-enactment of XL513, that would have been a real shame.
The reality is we were bankrupt at the time. That is the main reason so many promising projects were cancelled.
Did she tell you what colour it was?;)
My thoughts too. If the turbine disc had failed it would not have been contained, they have too much mass.
Well Pink Floyd got a pig airborne so I can see no reason why Boeing shouldn’t get the 787 into the air.
The pig did suffer fewer delays though.
I wasn’t the one complaining! 😀
Eh?

Feel free to link us to your preferred report, then! :p
Paul
I’m lead to believe that it’s easy, just google in AD.com and you should find it yourself:D
Btw, unless you hadn’t noticed I was one of the refugee’s too.
I prefer a more balanced and informed AD report rather than believe everything that Chris K prints.
