Is there no one who can help?

Don’g get too hung up on the Spey Conway thing, I’ve seen Nimrods move and perform in ways that I haven’t seen the Victor manage!

Then you’ve never seen a Victor take off for St Athan. No HDU, no pods, no underwings and minimum fuel.
The Spey is a more robust engine though.

There’re still around 9,000 stored in Hangar 1 at the museum so do worry about them running out – ‘for the time being!’ 😀

    It’s a pity you don’t post overseas.

Inboard or outboard, it’s still a stupid choice. That’s why God made transportation joints.

My first thought was commercial vehicle too.
It is old though, there’s no central spike for the flame front and no indication of multi-hole injectors.

Did you have ANY skin left?!

Let’s just say it ruined my suntan. I’ll see if I can dig out a photo.
That photo of the no 1 doors brings back memories (triangular ones) do you have a set of wobblies for the v clamps?

I could do with that T-shirt. It happened to me once on Ascension. Not a good idea in just KD shorts and boots.

oil from plants is a dead end, we don’t have enough land to produce enough to meet global demand, let alone feed people AND meet demand for oil.

I think all oil based ground vehicles would gradually move to electricity. aircraft will continue to run on fossil fuel long after that and the fuel that will replace oil in aircraft is liquid hydrogen. they will need to develop engineering solutions so that it is less accident prone.

The closest hydrogen mine to us is about 93,000,000 miles away.
Using electrolysis to extract hrdrogen from water requires a fair amount of power. I believe Boeing worked it out that it would four nuclear powerplants to supply a quarter of the yearly demand for fuel at O’Hare. So some other form of production is required.
Ullage is also a problem due to the low specific mass.
Whilst the FAR (fuel/air ratio) is higher than fossile fuels the low mass makes it somewhat difficult to get the required amount into the combustion chamber.

If you mean the fairing in the centre of the tail/fin it’s the RWR (Radar Warning Receiver)

I always thought that the Jetstream was the last design by Handley-Page but built by Scottish Aviation

    Both, depending on which airframe.

That’s a common fault with the RAT scoops. It normally took a couple of attempts to get the chipper to seat correctly, and more importantly, stay there!

It’s not just a military or aviation problem. It’s pretty much everywhere.
I had a dealer sell me a door latch for a transport refrigeration unit for 168 euros. The same thing cost from a manufacturer approved outlet a mere 22
