T7 XL563 – last noted in Nov 2009 sat dismantled in a farmers field near Southmoor, Oxfordshire
Now living in the south of France in a private collection 🙂
aaahhhh you evil genius you, yes that’s it! And now you’ve said that, there is just such a stamp on the PR9 Nav light cover I knicked..um..re-housed…from 39 Sqn! Nicely done sir! 🙂
So, the mystery remains unsolved..
Hi Tim
DTD 339 is indeed the perspex spec.
SSG looks familiar but cant remember why :rolleyes:rgds baz
Hi Baz
Yeah I was having the same issue with “SSG”…it rings a bell, but goodness knows which one!
Well, if the bell rings, let me know!
Hey TT18Timbo, I like your seasonal background 😀
Hehe thank you – we’re still under masses of the stuff here in backwood Herefordshire!
It made a handy stand for the mystery lamp cover 😉
According to this manufacturers codes list … SSG is probably Splintex, although the list is specifically for telingbone stuff,I would imagine the companies would use the same code for all their products…
Blimey, you’ve set out on quite a quest haven’t you!
Again, great find. My googling skills are obviously in need of some serious tuning 😮
Brilliant find Baz, love it!
They just don’t make adverts like that any more
Possibly also Suntex Safety Glass, who were in business up to about 10-12 yrs ago, and did a LOT of aircraft perspex.
Bruce
Thanks Bruce! So at least I have some manufacturer possibilities to back with 🙂
It’s a shame there aren’t any other identifiers on the piece then..it is looking like a very small needle in a rather large haystack to me..
Gonna throw Beechcraft Expeditor into the equation just to mix things up
I wasn’t able to rule out a twin fin from the photo so gotta be worth a shot!
EDIT: Scratch that, dates don’t tie up, Expeditor is too late by the seem of things!
John,
Post your request on the general board of this forum – you’ll be sure of some info:

here you go..
Interesting stuff!
Sounds interesting, are there any drawings of the Z.SO 523?
There are a mere two concept type drawings in the file, straight from the captured documents.
I’ll try and scan them, though being rather aged they’re not too sharp.
In the meantime, think Me 323 (on which is was roughly based) only much bigger!
I have some interesting material relating to the proposed Zeppelin Z.SO 523, which had it been completed would’ve been the largest aircraft in existence in 1945, with a span of 229.6 Feet and a length of 127.9 Feet.
The material is an original Jan 1945 Ministry of Aircraft Production/Directorate of Technical Development document (marked secret!), put together from captured intelligence which is part of a file from the Gloster Aircraft Company design office, full of what at the time was all highly sensitive and secret information on axis aircraft desgins. Somewhat spine chilling to read, especially the Me 262 file!
Anyway, back on track..although never built, the Z.SO 523 was at the time a proposed really big aeroplane! 😀
anchor nuts! 😀
Not long back I sold a full original transcript from the Comet inquiry which went into very specific detail into all aspects of the failures.. Would it help if I tried to find the address of the chap I sold it to, maybe you could drop him an email?
Yaay! Haha, thanks Baz and Cking!! 😀
My work here is done 😎
