We have a spare Risbridger in the office, you are more than welcome to borrow it.
I clean forgot about that!
Thanks Nige, will have to chat to you about that soon..
Risbridgers are (or at least as of earlier this year and currently according to their website!) still produced by Risbridger Ltd, though not quite in the same guise as we used in the RAF. They look a tad more up to date than I’m used to.
I’m well versed in their operation and (regular) maintenance, ex-Canberra rigger see 😉
The request was aimed at anyone who might have something kicking around who wasn’t aware of or bothered about it’s commercial value and would rather see it be used for preservation. I know all too well what they’re selling for, hence the request. I think as of this post my already slim chances just vapourised..
Ex 39 too!
PM’d you Jase 😉
Nice! Yeah 131 for some reason escaped the final wash and so mother nature is doing her best to bring back the hemp look.
Are you ex 39 JASE? You seem to have some nice insider pics 🙂
Looks to be XH131 in more active times and before she started malting!
Kemble Canberra’s
XH131 (the tatty looking one) has remnants of the grey temporary alkaline finish applied for Ops over Afghanistan still showing over the original hemp. It was never washed off prior to delivery to Kemble, and has therefore slowly worn off since 2006 due to rain, the blanks brushing against it and a little bit of work here and there for last years air day. It is not in any particularly bad condition, it just gives the appearance. It is due to depart Kemble to a new home this year.
XH135 is being prepared for static display at this years air day by a a small team, and was today moved from it’s long-time location over near the Chevron hangar, to a dispersal on the other side of the airfield.
XH134 is under the technical supervision of Delta Jets (though not owned) and is maintained in a servicebale condition. I cannot speak for the owners precise plans for the aircraft though it is well cared for and under cover.
Hope that helps!
hehe, it’s the thought that counts for sure!
It would be great if we could sort something out, from our point of view it would be nice to put her on show, having been kept locked up for many years and it is fifty years of Canberra !
good call but….60 years of Canberra! 😀
Not wishing to hijack in any way..but thought this might be of interest..
I have a Ministry of Aviation Av.P 970 Design Requirements for Aircrarft of the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy publication sat in front of me, which contains a rather nice section with colour sample cards featuring none other than this troublesome “Sky” dated 1st September 1948.
If anyone is interested, drop me a PM as it is surplus to my requirements.

AP has now found a new home, no longer available 😀
Canopy
Where tact is concerned, PM is your friend 😉 Purely out if interest, I’m just being nosey!
Congrats on your newly acquired lump of PR9!
I think it might be worth considering taking measurements from original panels and getting them commisioned where possible, as PR9 specific panels and parts are relatively scarce.
The canopy is a major coup though, where on earth did you dig that up from?
May I point you in the direction of the following website which may prove helpful to you: http://www.canberracrazy.co.uk
All the best with the project!

NAZCA
I think you might need to check out the work by this very talented fellow
Hit the “gaming” link, check out the gallery and you’ll find the many excellent Canberra models that Steve has created..
I’m not a gamer myself, I just appreciate the amazing models and artwork..gorgeous!
Family Pride
Not normally one to boast in public, but I’m so darned proud that I can’t help myself…

The electrical team supervisor featured in this wonderful piece, Alan Radford is my Grandfather 😀 My Grandmother June is also featured .
“Proud” is nowehere near a weighty enough word to express my feelings on seeing this at this historic time. Concorde has been around in my family for as long as I can remember, to the point that I guess I took for granted the family’s link. Despite tinged with sadness at the loss of what I consider to be our last great aviation engineering feat, this brought a smile to my face big enough to..well..fly Concorde into 😀
Hope you enjoy as much as I did.
Excellent news!
Hopefully this will be a good catalyst for similar events across the country.
Good idea chaps, good luck with the event 😀
