25 amps is fine, 30 amps just happens to be the highest widely available rating on the consumer market these days (that and 20)
So long as you’re plugging the charger in at the cockpit end of that 30 meter cable (a cable reel extension I presume) with the cable fully un-reeled so you’re not generating heat through resistance you’ll be fine. Be aware that the charger will generate a good amount of heat too so factor in some down-time for cooling if you’re looking at long periods of “power on”. Happy incandescence!

A 30 amp 12/24v battery charger is perfect for cockpit lighting and some motorised functions such as your rotating beacon. Very simply speaking bigger amps=more you can run before things start dimming under added load.

Thank you chaps – tad embarrassed that I didn’t try the Dunlop site first as it’s not long since I used it to ID another tyre. .oops! So we’re at a point where the tyre is certainly of the type fitted to Britannia 200 series but the rim which is definitely an AH40xxx would seem to remain a wildcard. I’ll do some work on the stamp and report back.
Thanks very much for everyone’s help so far 🙂

Thanks for your suggestion Trolly – I looked at Devon and Heron but nothing tied up. It remains unidentified at present though Bills Britannia punt seems a good contender

Thanks Bill, it certainly looks the part for Brit so you may well be on to something.
    Standing by! 🙂

Interesting, thanks TerryP. I clearly do not have a Vulcan B Mk 2 nose wheel assy in that case – theory duly debunked!
Many thanks for going to the trouble of posting the Vol 3 scans. I do love a bit of IPC action 🙂

Fantastic stuff, thanks for taking the time to share Baz! It’s interesting to compare this grand old 231 bird with our “last of the line” T4’s (WJ866, WJ874 and WH849) which had long since lost the UV coaming lamps and bakelite MkII cockpit lamps. I miss those old dears, I do hope ‘874 gets as well looked after at St Mawgan as Solway have done with ‘188, she looks a treat!

Well there it is, still learning after all these years!
One of my last jobs before ditching the blues was putting together the training material for the Canberra Maintenance Training Section (CMTS) on 39 at Marham. I will have reproduced and disseminated the incorrect spelling of “fescolised” to a whole generation of unsuspecting Canberra newbies.. oh the guilt!! 😀

Ahh..not logged in to the forum in yeeears and the day I do I get treated to some Canberra smut! Thanks for posting Baz, the old T4 stirs many a happy memory, and my Grandfather was on the development team on LABS so it’s a double hit of nostalgia. Hehe Epstein Forging, not heard that in a while! Now that my Epstein is checked while I’m in the bay I’d better check my fescalised portion too 🙂 How I miss the eccentric language of Canberra riggerage!

“Tat”, “rubbish” – what the hell is up with this elitist snobbish nonsense so rife on this forum? Those (few) of us who don’t blindly follow the crowd who incessantly drool over lumps of corroded metal which may or may not have once been from another bloody Spitfire might actually find a prop from Memphis Belle extremely interesting, equally interesting as the uniform worn by young Jamie in Empire of the Sun and yes, even a bit of paper from Dam Busters regardless of how glamorous it actually is. I have lots of pieces like this in my collection and resent the arrogance of the forum sheep dismissing it as tat and rubbish. Overpriced it may be, but price does not dictate historical value and personal interest. I like it. All if it.
For once maybe just open your minds before committing your vitriolic judgements to keyboard.

Matt, I feel a little less foolish getting childishly excited over my first sighting of the Osprey thanks to you! :). We had one making regular low-level passes en-route to a certain special Regiment at Credenhill in Hereford a month or so back. I flapped like an 11 year old One Direction fan every time I heard that unmistakable gurgle and saw it pass at little above treetop height.
Enjoy it while you can, I miss it already!

Quick aeroboot observation to note – the layout of the stalls did not lend itself well at all to those of us on the far back with our backs to the stalls on the central avenue. A number of buyers commented that they hadn’t realised we were there at first so it was spoken of that more of an “arena” might have attracted folk in a little better and given those sellers with the furthest to travel (therefore latest to arrive) less of a disadvantage .
By no means a complaint, hopefully just constructive comment to improve on what was still a fantastic day of catching up, acquainting and soaking up of atmosphere
