Thats what i have heard – future for XJ824 would seem to be uncertain thereafter…

well by that time the VOC would be itching to do another one just to keep their hand in, so the likely scenario is they swop airframes

btw you naughty boy, any dosh should be flung at the blue one not the silver boring thing

    forgot to say please

There are 2 sides [or more] to any conversation, some posts are optimistic, some pessimistic, some realistic but all have thier points and are valid.
Next June will prove which group are nearly correct.
Perhaps we ought to start a sweepstake and the monies go to something like Sally B.

Phil, was at the asda day on Sunday, due to lots of problems none of us got our A/C into their display area usual Bruntingthorpe problems !
All in all and interesting day though, Crunchy Stearmans, Extra 300 and a Pitts did some really neat flying.
Anyway noticed that some nice person has parked about 200 tons of earth right by the side of the Beech !
Assume you know and assume you werent best pleased
Lots of people who saw it made some very pleasing comments, its a credit to you guys.
Hows the Rub frame removals going ? weve got a diiger and driver waiting to start

to be honest, the weather was so bad on the saturday we thought it was gonna be a wash out

we saw that big pile of mud and as you say weren’t all that impressed. good wind break, if only the wind came from that direction

the rub is all but apart now. just a bit round on nev’s side to do………dave needs to get straightening…..we are ready to start moving scrap (tony’s)

glad people liked the beech…..thanks mate

I know…..those volpar 18’s are not the real deal…….they look awfull in my opinion.

Ours is coming along…..slowly but still coming on…..

electrics is holding us up at the moment as is the weather…….we were inside under the vulcan until a few weeks back…..we were able to work on it easily inside……..outside it is a real problem

hope to have her running in next month or so….

    i must update my website

I am In fear of reaping a tirade of anti philip comments if i say what i really feel about the Vulcan thing

I think you are right mate, it is gonna cost a heck of a lot more to finish it.

    just a quick calculation

25 chaps (there are 25 clocking in cards in the hanger)
8 hours per man per day
    5 days per week
lets say £90.00 per hour (bit of a guess here but we charge £50 here at work and i know that is cheap………..anyway lets use £90.00 per hour for arguments sake. someone could always plug in the real figure at some point)

    so £90 x 8 x 5 x 25 = £90,000 per week x 4 = £360,000 per month
    £2,730,000/£360,000 = 7.5 months

so assuming they don’t have any of their own money in the bank, the lottery money will run out in 7.5 months………this also assumes they don’t buy anything…..it also assumes No expenses for the workers…..are they going back and forwards each day from cambridge or are they going into digs…….either way more money.

they do have some of their own money………they had to raise 28% of the lottery grant so i think they raised about £765,000……….that is about another 2 months work for marshalls….

I think they need millions more to do this…..don’t get me wrong, I applaud what they are trying to do and i with the project every success, but it is a bit bonkers when they are trying to screw their investors for another fiver like that.

I could continue to rant but it would be construde as sour grapes cus we are out of the hanger now………a 10 year restoration project on a CAA aircraft, so close to completion now outside in the weather………….hhmmmmm

Anyway andy and Rlangham, you can come and sit in my plane if you wanna………..no charge guys……ooops, that wasn’t marketing was it…..i haven’t learnt anything from my marketing mentor TT

Finally, a quick heads up…..on or around 22nd or 23rd September, Another Beech 18 will be arriving at Bruntingthorpe as a resident aircraft…..no guys, not another restoration project…….a tri-gear volpar modified airworthy Beech from the States….should be with us for about 2 years….

She is coming over the greenland-Iceland-Scotland route……..more details as i get it will be posted as a separate thread.

Plan is to have a Beech formation team.

They are really taking the P*** now.

    maybe it is me……………..

anyone who comes along with their a lottery ticket should be able to get to see the vulcan for free.

worth a try guys…………..create merry hell if they don’t let you in to look at YOUR investment.

it really makes my blood boil…..David has no problem, why do they always try to blame someone else………….er like when they damaged my Beech 18 whilst it was in the hanger…………..NOT ME, NOT US , musta been the scaffolders……

BuccSoc absolutely right highly entertaining when she fired up for the first time, 20ft jet of flame, no brakes or nose wheel steering if memory serves…

As for the Vulcan Hangar Andy, my money says it’ll be locked up tighter than a shark’s a*** at fifty fathoms – will miss you at the weekend but see you on the 28th – hope everything goes well

    Cheers

    TT

I think you might just be right

couldn’t open the doors cus the temperature differential would cause such a contraction/expansion in the airframe it would jump right off its jacks……………couldn’t make it up could i…..it gotta be true cus they told me……..
