Yes that silliness represented the west. But this board has gone off topic many times especially with scooter not receiving any violations. But i guess my responses pissed off people’s political affiliations to report it. Lesson learned.

I will replace it with a video link maybe that is a better source.

I have found this info here https://twitter.com/dafengcao/status/1059759531432009729 I do not know if this was added here(I do not pay much attention to China’s air force thread) before but the image was take on Nov 2018. It just shocked me they pursued the same thing. They have counted 600 modules on this. Also thanks for your info.
Does anyone have information like what range the klj-7a radar’s side arrays can track?

@FBW
“We don’t see these things. Hypersonic weapons- Kinzhal is a modification of a intermediate range BM questionable if it fits in this category, many view it as a propaganda weapon rather than a useful addition. Tsirkon is more interesting… and not in service (and I’d take rumored entry date of 2020 with a large grain of salt). In truth, we don’t know who is closer to fielding either a hypersonic airbreathing cruise missile or a boost-glide weapon, for all of the research ongoing and investment it could be the Chinese.”
https://qr.ae/TWIhdz I believe I have addressed most of their hypersonic capabilities. But to me and everyone else it would absolutely make no sense that they have developed a missile with similar roles to the sparrow missiles(knowingly it would not work) while claiming to destroy air defense platforms. The Kinzhal information as you said before was leaked while the US believes its similar to sparrow missile. But Russias description of maneuvering at every stage compared to the sparrow missile only maneuvering at the re-entry phase is still too different to say they have similar roles. What I am saying is there would be no purpose for the Russians to boast about the kinzhal missile if it was that similar to the sparrow missiles.
“Heavy class UAV- prototype, there is no doubt Russia is behind the other major powers in developing and fielding UAV.”
I agree with you on this, but my opinion along with many on this forum might change since it is said that this Spring flight tests will be done with their heavy drone Okhontik. The next thing I hope they would do is test the radar and have the drone fire missiles. I think the Russians are only behind the US(although that might change depending on this project’s outcome) for example I do not see any similar project those other major powers you are talking about being made.
“again this is an area where Russia is clearly behind the other major powers, perhaps not in technology, but in industrial capacity. Russian shipbuilding industry had to be rebuilt from nothing, if the last 10 years has shown anything, throwing money at the problem did not speed up production or efficiency.”
We had sailors die and be buried at sea because of the radiation poisoning they have received on Project Azorian trying to recover a submarine along with some torpedoes. In the Quora answer there are other attack submarines like the Yasen-M. There has been a lot of debate about the noise levels between the Yasen-M and newer Virginia class subs arguing which one is more stealthier(do not want to bring it up for the sake of this aviation thread). Russians claim their SONAR is far superior(no knows that for sure) But I do know that if Zircon and this submarine become operational it can basically destroy groups of ships and since its torpedo outranges other torpedoes range and comes with a self autonomous 2.5km dual passive and active homing warhead the accuracy is even better that if this submarines stealth was equivalent to other in terms of stealth and has its sonar range capability meet its torpedo range than this sub will always get 1st shot 1st kill. It also has a neat Vist-2 decoy that can imitate noise and radiation levels of other submarines.
However I agree the US is superior in naval radars on ships because as far as I know there is no Naval version of a s-400 or S-500 on a ship yet.
“Russia’s share of world trade is minuscule, and shrinking”
They stopped parts of Ukraine becoming a part of NATO, Screwed with us on Syria and Venezuela, and now are beginning more trade and military projects with Turkey and just like the Chinese they are planning most of their businesses in Africa.

Is this true or just rumors? All of Russia’s best engineers have left Ukraine during the 2014 crisis which is why they are falling behind?

Thanks for the advice i will look it up.
Admin at Russia defense net can accept anymore users. I am guessing he needs to set up more servers to provide better efficient load balancing to handle more requests before I can even start an account over there(I hope he resolves the issue later). Either way I am throwing some info.

He pointed out that “former President Omar al-Bashir’s government offered to host a Russian naval base, so there are numerous opportunities to boost ties and cooperation.”

Also a random question I have heard the Yasen-M has like 10 VLS which can carry 40 oniks. Oniks in length is 8.9 meters while the tested mach 9 plasma covered manuvering scramjet zircon missile are estimated 8-10 meters. Does anyone have any size references as to what the diameter of the Zircon missile would be? I am assuming the Yasen-M could start lobbing 40 zircons if they want. There are like 8 torpedo tubes for the Yasen-M so I am assuming 8 futlyar torpedos can be launched is this correct?

2 external fuel tanks fuel weight: 11,900kg
range: 1,600 nautical miles or 2963.2kms
http://www.knaapo.ru/media/eng/about/production/military/su-35/su-35_buklet_eng.pdf
maximum internal fuel weight: 11,500kg
range: 3,600kms
since the AL-41 is pretty much what the SU-57 was currently using is this the right way to compare fuel efficiency between aircrafts? For example if I was to add 400kg to make the su-35 fuel range comparable to the f-22 I would have to 11,500/11,900 get .9663 – 1 get 3.36% add 1 to get 1.0336 times 3,600km the range would be 3,720.96kms. However the F-22 supercruises at mach 1.82 while the SU-57 supercruises at mach 1.6. Is that because the F-22 is burning more fuel therefore having what seems to be a lesser range than the SU-57? If there is anyone that can dumb this done please do so but remember do not feel p!ssed off because I am not drawing a conclusion yet on this.

http://www.deagel.com/Sensor-Systems/Next-Generation-DAS_a003696001.aspx
“The Next Generation DAS is the successor to the F-35’s EO DAS to be integrated onto production aircraft starting in 2023 along with Lot 15 aircraft. The state-of-the-art Distributed Aperture System will be developed by Raytheon chosen by Lockheed Martin in June 2018. The Next Generation DAS will consist of six infrared cameras mounted around the aircraft to provide the pilot with outstanding situational awareness allowing detection of incoming threats from any angle day or night. Compared with its predecessor the new high resolution cameras will feature a 45-percent reduction in unit cost, 50-percent reduction in sustainment and operating costs, five times more reliable and 2 times performance improvement.”
This is more of an avionics question. But what is everyone’s preference, 360 degree radar coverage or 360 degree infrared coverage? I am assuming that infrared coverage is more superior(which is why Lockheed still is pursuing advancement on this instead of changing to radar coverage) because the infrared energy of a mach 4 missile is more visible to the pilot than an aircrafts radar coverage being able to pick up a small target like an air to air missile.
