The concept of a hypersonic missile being developed by Raytheon was unveiled at the Le Bourget air show. The advanced missile is being developed under the HAWC (Hypersonic Air-breathing Weapon Concept) program initiated by the Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).”

    Does anyone by any chance found an image of how the missile looks? I am not talking about the drawn image of the hypersonic missile being carried. I am sure that if this was shown to the public at the airshow there would be an image. A concept is like an idea or invention being shown to sell or publicize. Is there a mock up that was shown at the airshow because I am still curious about the size of the missile.

    So far I will be waiting until the event is over for a 2019 photo library since the 2017 photo library is only presented.

    “China’s top unmanned helicopter, the AV500, has successfully conducted its first night operation under challenging conditions, demonstrating its any-time, all-terrain capabilities, a result which Chinese analysts said on Thursday might increase the possibility for the Chinese military to put it into service and attract overseas buyers.

    An AV500 took off and flew toward sea in a headwind of 15 meters per second at midnight on June 14 in South China’s Hainan Province. During the nighttime mission, the drone helicopter successfully located its target vessel with its electro-optical pod and transferred back clear infrared visuals, read a statement the helicopter department of the state-owned Aviation Industry of China (AVIC), the maker of the AV500, released on Wednesday.

    During its flight, the AV500 overcame challenging environments including strong winds and high salinity and humidity, AVIC said in the statement, noting the operation proved the drone helicopter’s capability to operate at night.

    In 2017, the company flew the AV500 in Northwest China’s Gansu Province, as it climbed to an altitude of 5,006 meters, a record for a domestically developed helicopter drone.

    Through these tests, the AV500 has shown outstanding environmental adaptability and strong reliability, a military expert who requested anonymity told the Global Times on Thursday, noting that these characteristics could make the unmanned helicopter attractive to both domestic and international clients.

    A drone helicopter could conduct patrol, reconnaissance, damage evaluation and attack missions for the military. It could also be deployed on missions relating to anti-terrorism, firefighting and disaster evaluation, the expert said.

    AV500W, an armed reconnaissance variant of the AV500, successfully conducted a missile firing test in 2018, making it combat ready, AVIC said earlier.

    It can carry a 175-kilogram payload and fly at a maximum speed of 170 kilometers an hour carrying laser-guided missiles or machine guns, the company said.

    The AV500 also took part in a military exercise at the invitation of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and conducted a mock assault mission, China Aviation News reported in September 2018.

    Since the PLA does not seem to have helicopter drones in service, it might consider adding one, the military expert suggested, noting that a helicopter drone is more flexible and offers unique advantages over traditional fixed wing drones.”

    What stop anti radar missiles and UAV from attacking these EW station?

    I feel a little embarrassed that I missed this, thanks for bringing it up. The only solution I see against radiation missiles would be decoy emitters to lure these missiles to SAM units designed specifically to shoot them down.

    Testing a new jamming method. Still dreaming about a EW system that would cause cruise missiles to blow other than a rtut-bm system that causes rockets and shells to blow up

    Can this air defense also have a ICBM interception capability role?

    There are some features I don’t see on the F-35 like fiber optics to monitor the composites of the aircraft and what pisses me off is a presentation of a hypersonic missile that looks like it was being carried externally on the F-35 defeating its purpose of stealth while it seems the Russians are focusing on an internal configuration making it seem that the SU-57 triumphs in SEAD because of it.. Although I don’t think the F-35 is by any means inferior because of the lack of this and that. Maybe some better details will be shown since it feels like most users here don’t have patience to wait for this coming airshow.

    ActionJackson do you by any chance have sources or images to show what you mean? Other than it does not look like my favorite aircraft therefore no stealth? Like can you show us what you mean than give a source that shows how much rcs would be reduced if it had such a stealth feature? F-16.net might view you as a traitor for giving such important stealth information away and those scientists that have access to those radar chambers feel relieved that you are the new adolf tolkachev and have a portrait of you hung up in their office.

    On my phone but it seems like your begging for classified info. The EW equipment himalayas was mounted in late 2014. What info do you expect from their EW? I dont have any info on the F-35s barricuda? What are you specifically asking for?

    I would not say this subject is entirely off topic relating to the SU-57 but here we go

    MAKS: Russia’s hypersonic scramjet experiment could fly by 2019

    I have heard about a prototype missile that is supposedly 3 meters long travels at mach 6 with altitudes of 27kms(although it difficult to verify that as true for the GLL-AP-02) . Russia’s Gromov Flight Research Institute expects there prototype to fly 3-4 years. Can anyone confirm where the 3 meter length data came from for this prototype missile because I think that length(weight is no problem) can fit in the SU-57 but I have no idea on the diameter size. Here is a good read about Russia’s history with scramjet missiles http://www.russianspaceweb.com/kholod.html

    “Sight ST-22-1 is designed for use on land and sea targets and is equipped with automatic capture and target tracking devices. OJSC “Peleng” provided only limited information about ST-22-1, which was officially designated in the exhibition as “television system”. It is reported that the CT-22-1 has four switchable fields of view – wide (8 ° × 6 °), medium (4 ° × 3 °), narrow (2 ° × 1.5 °) and two-fold narrow (1 ° × 0 , 75 °) – in all cases with independent stabilization in the vertical and horizontal planes.According to the manufacturer, a narrow installation of the field of view allows you to detect a target the size of a tank at a distance of 15 km with a probability of up to 90%.

    The sight optics has a range from -40 ° to + 70 ° vertically and ± 30 ° in the longitudinal direction, with a maximum speed of movement of 30 ° per second and a minimum speed of tracking the target within the line of sight of only 0.05 ° per second.

    “Some people tell is not important these things, but on this level all is very important. Everybody can reduce RCS from 20 m2 to 1 m2 in a easy way, but reduce RCS from 0,1 to 0,0001 m2 is other diferent thing…”

    https://findpatent.ru/patent/250/2502643.html

    “The EPR of the aircraft consists of the EPR of the following components: a glider; power plant; optical and antenna systems of the onboard equipment complex; outboard and in-flight equipment.

    The magnitude of the EPR airframe and power plant is determined by three factors:

    – the form of the theoretical contours and layout of the airframe, including the air intake and air duct;

    – the design of airframe units, technological and operational joints of casings, flaps, hatches and the joints between the movable and fixed parts of the airframe of the aircraft;

    – using radar absorbing and shielding materials and coatings.”

    I think RCS measurements done in the US are different from their EPR measurements. People at this rate are going to call you scooter number 2 if you keep on saying their measurements are the same as their measurements. Find me a source of an F-22 and F-35 having these following features measured on the patent. If you cant I would postpone on this board from trying to compare RCS values because I am sure you, me and everybody else on this board has no idea what measurement the US took to account for an RCS of .0001m2 from the front, what radar beam angle was taken, etc, etc.. As LMFS stated there were some values of the SU-57 being measured at -30 to -40 decibels and I am sure a nice sale’s pitch like we have obtained -40 decibels from the front would sell well. If you got billion of dollars of a radar echo chamber and got both SU-57s and F-22s in there than please tell us what those values are. At this rate it is already pointless to further discuss this subject.

    You can disagree with their EPR values of the F-22 being more stealthy than the SU-57, but as long as you agree that their EPR values are different from RCS values the US takes than we are good. Enjoy your day I am already done with talking about stealth.
