Spent most of a 12 hour shift swinging tongs and tripping pipe on a Semi-Submersible Drilling Rig in the North Sea before getting stripped, tied to part of the Drilling Derrick and getting a good hosing down. ( HSE wasn’t quite so tight in those days !!) 😀
Roger Bacon he may have been, but I was always of the understanding that the content of ‘straight and level’ was a pick of the best submissions sent in by aviation journalists the length and breadth of the country.
Like ‘Scramble Bill’ I don’t often post, but offer my best wishes for a speedy recovery, and sincerely hope that your ‘little mishap’ hasn’t dented your desire to ‘commit aviation’ in the future ?
Until the new ones arrive what tankers does the RAF have left? It was only last year some lunatic wanted the VC10s and Tristars removed and sensible RAF seniors pointed out we would have no tankers at all…

Off the top of my head, 1 in New Zealand, 3 in UK (MAM, East Midlands and Cosford) and at least 1 more in the USA. Cosford’s example is the only one indoors.
