Ah, one-legged Dudley Moore auditioning for the lead in Peter Cook’s new film of Tarzan…..:D:D:D
Roger Smith.
I like your right leg. A lovely leg for the role. That’s what I said when I saw you come in. I said ‘A lovely leg for the role.’ I’ve got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is — neither have you.
Class !!! 😀
Also done. Good luck !
Roughnecking !!!
Spent most of a 12 hour shift swinging tongs and tripping pipe on a Semi-Submersible Drilling Rig in the North Sea before getting stripped, tied to part of the Drilling Derrick and getting a good hosing down. ( HSE wasn’t quite so tight in those days !!) 😀
What a wonderful clip….thanks for sharing. Have seen stills of the VC10 but never footage. Lovely stuff !!!
Many thanks Short finals
Paphos Shacks were still there 3 weeks ago when I was back on the island. Dodo still on the dump as well along with the Jet Provost.
Roger Bacon he may have been, but I was always of the understanding that the content of ‘straight and level’ was a pick of the best submissions sent in by aviation journalists the length and breadth of the country.
Like ‘Scramble Bill’ I don’t often post, but offer my best wishes for a speedy recovery, and sincerely hope that your ‘little mishap’ hasn’t dented your desire to ‘commit aviation’ in the future ?
Reds are heading down to Akrotiri in Cyprus for the next 2 months for their annual work up.
Until the new ones arrive what tankers does the RAF have left? It was only last year some lunatic wanted the VC10s and Tristars removed and sensible RAF seniors pointed out we would have no tankers at all…
Voyagers been operating in and out of Akrotiri for a few months now.

And the reference for G-159’s……………..
Many thanks for posting that link Newforest – nice to see that a couple that I used to ‘play with’ are still around – even found a picture of myself on there !!
[QUOTE=HP111;2055819] However, I have a supplementary question, are there any RR Darts still flying?. QUOTE]
You might find some old Andovers or F-27’s kicking around somewhere, but one type that’s still flying with them in almost substantial numbers is the Gulfstream 1, which co-incidentally celebrated the 55th anniversary of it’s first flight 5 days ago. See here http://pilotnewsmag.com/gulfsteam-commemorates-55th-anniversary-of-first-gulfstream-i-flight/
Peter,
Off the top of my head, 1 in New Zealand, 3 in UK (MAM, East Midlands and Cosford) and at least 1 more in the USA. Cosford’s example is the only one indoors.
Will never get in the air, but the artwork might be of interest !!
