No they would of got an Ambassador to transport Manchester United Youth team about, best thing for them, especially with Ice about…

    Stewart1A,

Considering that 23 people died in the accident that you allude to, and only 8 of them were footballers, I would respectfully suggest that you edit or indeed remove the above post which many would consider to be in bad taste.

    Modly et all,

Thanks for posting the images, and information.

Prior to last Friday, the last time that I had seen one of these beasts in the skies was 23 years ago at the last airshow at Aberdeen in 1984, getting “bounced” by G-FIRE, with it’s cannon mounted strobes blazing away. A tad one sided perhaps, but enjoyable all the same. 😀

The machine in question that day was, I believe ,N9012P/G-BFHF – in fact a Casa 352L – now at the Auto und Technik Museum , which was flown on occasion by the late John ” Jeff” Hawke.

    Spot on

Have to be honest here Si and say that this one wasn’t too difficult for me. Spent years on them flying between Aberdeen and Sumburgh as part of the process of transiting to oil rigs in the Norhtern North sea – Great machines !

Can you guess what this is?

    Trailer

p.s. The cinema showed a trailer for the new film Atonement, starring amongst others

Was rather bemused / amused to see a trailer for the “Sound of Music” before the main feature, although admittedly 30 minutes later the hills were alive with the sound of Merlins!! Did you all get that or was it a special treat for us in Aberdeen ????:D

Film looked great on the big screen….Yes, noticed the Canberra and the odd Lincoln here and there….but did it spoil the enjoyment of the occasion….well , no, not for me anyway.

Belting way to spend an evening.

I did fly the Jaguar simulator at RAF Lossiemouth in the mid 70’s, and that was a full cockpit on massive hydraulic rams – but visuals were limited to a monitor sitting in the front windshield.

If I remember correctly, the source for the visuals mentioned by RobAnt on the Jag sim at Lossie was quite a vast small scale 3D model with a camera mounted overhead….can anyone confirm ???

    Bex,

The remains of the platform were toppled in 1989. All you can see now is a marker bouy above the site of the wreck about 120 mtrs from the Piper Bravo, which was built to replace the Alpha and continue recovering the hydrocarbons left in the field.
