Ivan,

Nazareth playing here in Aberdeen tomorrow night at the Beach Ballroom – a stones throw away from where a Scottish “lady”, probably smelling strongly of that certain beverage, will ( for a fee ) adopt you for about an hour !!!!:D 😀
British teenager has had a full English breakfast tattooed onto his head overnight – including bacon, eggs, sausages, beans, and a full set of cutlery.
What’s the point – no-ones going to see it under the Burberry baseball cap anyway !!

2 in the aviation side that stand out for me.

    1. Trial Lesson from my folks at the local flying club for my 13th Birthday. Stepped into the cockpit of the 152 full of nervous excitement….30 mins later stepped out of it 10 foot tall and bulletproof !!! 24 years ago now, but I’ll never forget that feeling.

    2. Owner of aforementioned flying club ( where I was by now working) making sure that I finished off my PPL (at his own expense) before he sold the business on. He didn’t have to do it and he’s not with us anymore, but I will always remember, and be eternally grateful to him.

Having given up playing rugby, due to my body being knackered, now spend my Saturdays with my lads watching Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Currently sitting 3rd in the SPL behind Celtic and Rangers and hoping to get back into Europe for the first time in years.

Don’t think we’ll be emulating the halcyon days of the 80’s (under Ferguson )and European glory for a while yet though.

Excellent news; looking forward to seeing this one on my next visit to Coventry. The Viscount must have made quite a sight landing on the relatively short runway at Perth. I was flown from Carlisle to Perth on a Pa-28 a couple of years back and spent several hours there waiting on the wind to drop before collecting a Cessna 152 to solo back to Carlisle.

As would have the Trident they had there as well !!

Glad to here that she has such a rosy future. Many a day spent wandering around her and some if the other riches in the Perth hangars at that time ( some of the exhibits now residing at East Fortune, Reid and Sigrist Desford and a certain Beech 18 to name but a few ), whilst waiting to ferry puddle jumpers coming off 50 hr checks or annuals back to Aberdeen.

All the best with your project.

H2S is indeed the chemical symbol for Hydrogen Sulphide. Thing is, this is a very, very bad smelling substance.

Ability to smell H2S is dependent upon concentration levels. At concentrations above 100 ppm, a person’s ability to detect the gas is affected by rapid temporary paralysis of the olfactory nerves in the nose, leading to a loss of the sense of smell. This means that the gas can be present at dangerously high concentrations, with no perceivable odor.

At levels above 200 ppm, collapse, coma and death due to respiratory failure can occur within seconds after only a few inhalations.

i.e. you’ll smell it once, and a few seconds later you’ll be gone.

Added to this, it will also brittle and destroy hard metals. Nasty stuff, and a inherent risk associated with some of the offshore oilwells that we work on in the North Sea that has unfortunately resulted in several deaths over the years.

Sorry – miles away from topic, please accept my apologies.
