Both 43 and Treble One Squadron based at Leuchars flew F3’s.

    43 Sqaudron from 1989 to 2009 and 111 Squadron from 1990 through to 2011.

Viscount and HS748 as Aeronut mentioned, but also Dash 7. All three were invaluable on oilfield support duties through the 80’s and 90’s.

Viscounts and 748’s used to take me to Sumburgh, whilst Dash-7’s took me to the wilderness that was Unst !!! Last place on the wish list to get stuck ( which we frequenty did !!! ).

From my own personal point of view I can say this.

I travel frequently for work purposes and the hub that I most often use is Schipol. When the Aviodrome was situated at the airport it was easy to access and I would imagine ( although havent got any figures or information re admission numbers to back it up) attracted passing trade with time to spare between flights, or from people staying at the myriad of hotels located there. I know that this is what I used to do.

Since the collection moved to Lelystad, I have only visited twice, and both times only because I was driving from Schipol up to Emmen for meetings etc and it was more or less on the route.

I can only wonder then, if re-locating ( while undoubtably giving the museum a chance to expand and display their collection in much better surroundings) imacted the amount of visitor numbers due to the nature of the location. Passing trade counts for a lot in ‘niche markets’. If you lose that then business will inevitably suffer.

A great shame though, I did enjoy the collection on my visits whether it was at Schipol or Lelystad. Hope something can be done.

Sad News, A great fighter in a golden age of other great fighters…Ali, Foreman, Quarry, Norton etc.

Never ducked any of them, a great fighter and a hell of a tough guy.

Unfortunately some fights you just can’t win…….:(

A pistonrob says, depends where and on the conditions that the vehicle has been used in.

I have a car in Scotland, and a car in Cyprus. I reckon the filter on my Cyprus car gets changed twice as much as the one in Scotland, purely due to the dustier environment.

Well, end of the group stages………this round-up passed on to me by a mate in New Zealand made me smile….:D

Gutted by the Morris Dancers lucky win against the Thistle Dodgers. The Riverdancers are playing that well they may well beat the Leak Bandits… I can’t even pick the Shackledraggers v the Boers. The Skackledraggers finishing 2nd in pool play was a cunning ploy by Deansie to unsettle the Boers and it may just work. The ABs will down the Argies like a skyhawk over Port Stanley!!

Well here it is….Scotland v England. Best of luck to supporters both sides of the border.

Just hope Scotland can do what the Tongans are currently doing to France !! 😀

Yep, that’s the only option, and (no offence by the way – and not an anti-English comment) I would love it if we did, but lets put it this way, after looking at both sides recent performances I won’t be rushing down to the bookies to put anything on it !!!
