The US did all that during the Cold War- when blank checks were a given and funds were aplenty. China would be better served in using its money wisely.
IMHO, the present scenario appears to be rival Chinese firms jockeying for position and attempting to make some use of their excess capacities.

They atleast finish projects and get marketing results.

I don’t think it is a normal procedure to show others how far one is with copying and improving. We all know about J10. And we haven’t seen those audits… Some nations just don’t put everything in the windowdressing. Those that do have other reasons.

Just out of curiousity? It killed the cat. 😉 I would love to see that you ask the same to Nitin.

The JH-7 a carrier aircraft? Yeah, right. Show me a list of “some modification” and it might get interesting.

And it wouldn’t nearly make it a Chinese equivalent to the F/A-18. It’s got far too much range for that :dev2:

And it has much earlier wingfences…:)

Ukrain wanted to sell them to pak (not sure). They still needed spare parts…

    IAF aircraft ‘unloads’ near refinery

TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 05, 2004 03:45:00 AM ]

AHMEDABAD/NEW DELHI: An Iskra trainer aircraft of the Indian Air Force accidentally dropped a 25 lb bomb at Lakha Baval village in the Jamnagar area on Thursday afternoon.

This is the second incident this year after a MiG crashed in the same area recently killing three people. The IAF has ordered a probe into the incident. The incident assumes importance because the area where it happened is close to the Jamnagar oil refinery.

“As of now, no loss of life has been reported due to the bomb explosion, which took place near the village around 4 pm,” said an officer.

A trainee pilot, tasked with dropping four 25 lb bombs at the Jamnagar range, was flying the Iskra when the mishap took place.

The pilot could apparently drop three of the bombs at the range when the fourth one developed a technical snag. The pilot was then asked by the air traffic control to return to Jamnagar base. While on the way, the fourth bomb accidentally fell off. The IAF has ordered a court of inquiry into the incident and a team has rushed to the spot.

Your poking into Pakistan is totally not justified. The point for not making and buying is irrelavant. Most spares are replaced by inhouse verions if situation is there. Let me give you insight in your childish unrealistic logic. The Mirage has a plastic fueltank in the wings. The cost of this is comparable with the weight in gold. If Pakistan is able to buy second hand wings (aha… Libya) then they can replace those tanks cheaper. Your empty remarks are laughable. We can talk about India in other topics… It is about J11… And stop crying.

In my word everyone copies and improves. And there is nothing wrong with that. I say the same about other nations. First you buy expensive goodies. Then you try to improve inhouse maintenance, Then you move on local assembling. Then parts produces inhouse. Then in a project with other nations. And finally fully inhouse project. It would be incorrect to assume that new fighterjets come as a fully new inhouse idea… 😉

PAF and mirages is indeed something to talk about. If those mirages are that inferior then India should have not protested against its shipment towards your neighbour. Unfortunately they are probably good enough after being upgraded. And spare parts… You should know the logic between risk and payments… French do deliver but at higher cost. I don’t think that you should blaim Pakistan for that.

Maybe comparing between India and China shows the differences. Not for flaming but both nation have the same background yet the present is much different.

amen. dont mess with the russians when ur services run on their products.

Isn’t that strange that Dassault had not much problems with Kfir? Or the South African version… If they have enough parts tp replace the original then it is just a matter of logic to move on. That is one of the reason that China earned cash (J5/J6/J7) and I think that it is not much different with anything else. Better improve proven design then drag into super light plane that will never become something. Anyway. I don’t think that the short message of Nitin has any ground except copy rights.

Somehow it isn’t the most handy design. And indeed IAF is going to be using a lot of these rugged designs that needed western equipment but the accident rate is pretty high lately even with rugged Russian planes (mig21) and even the French ones (mirages). But that is all to blaim to the producers of the plane… 😉

I found the remark funny and pretty valid given the prior behaviour of the Yahoo25’s etc on the forum, the FC1 will be much better than the Su30 MKI, this that and similar if wishes were horses kind of tripe. As simple as that. Now please quit the whining.

I don’t think that we compare Fc1 with any other plane. Or do we keep dragging 10 year old data back to this topic? Like Fc1 is paperjet, is 80% f16 or even Chinese planes are bad quality? Explain me your one sided and unrespectful ideas.
