If it goes through then 60 of these will be direct sales and the remaining will be produced under licence at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited,” Wiley told reporters. “The deal requires part production in India.”

What part do you not understand? And can we stop pak this pak that? Some are 24/7 active just to burn others.

US firm to sell 100 ’copters to India

BANGALORE: US-based Bell Helicopter Textron wants to sell 100 of its 407-model helicopters to the Indian military, a senior official of firm said on Wednesday. “We have put in bids for selling about 100 of Bell 407 helicopters which are being evaluated by the Indian army,” said Max Wiley, vice-president Asia Pacific Sales, Bell Helicopter.

“If it goes through then 60 of these will be direct sales and the remaining will be produced under licence at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited,” Wiley told reporters. “The deal requires part production in India.”

Wiley said Indian-produced units, costing two million dollars each, could also be exported. More than 600 Bell 407 single-engine helicopters used by law-enforcement, companies and militaries have been deployed all over the world, he said.

Bell Helicopter on Wednesday also announced a tie-up with low-cost airline Deccan Aviation for component overhaul of Bell Helicopters at the Indian firm’s facility at Bangalore. So far 13 helicopters have been sold by Bell in India, mostly to private firms. “Another two will be sold soon to Reliance group and Pawan Hans Helicopter, a charter firm,” Wiley said.

Yern, about getting lower price. They will get it back by rising spare part costs. Even if you win a few millions you know the french will take double when you have the plane up and running. About Bofors, It had even corruption still it went on and on…

GA, Star49 isn’t going to flame in a topic that he is supporting. About orders or no orders. Matter of defintion. Like western firms first order is often internal. After that export maybe intresting. Why should it here be a very strange thing?

The french got crazy. Well. They have high prices so I do not blame India for playing around. Why not?

Since fc1 is designed for multiple options it won’t be a problem to change the engine. But that would push the testing way back. And Russia will lose not only credit to China and Pakistan but also export options.

Good for India and probably good for Pakistan. India opens up to get more and better products and Pakistan will get a more open door if asking for advanced weapons.

Frankly I do not think the LCA is not good enough. But adding 125 new fighters (either mirage2000 or Gripen or F16) is pushing the LCA sideways. Even for India just adding 125 planes means that other funds have to diverted.

That was a joke. Just a link to the fact that India asks by accident same weapon systems as their neighbour. J10 is probably the only option besides fc1 that Pakistan can buy without India asking the same.

I remember the Mirage 2000-5. Pakistan went to France and India asked for more then 100 of the same. Then it happened with Qatari mirages. Then Gripen. Now there are reports about F16’s. I remember a post on this forum just after Pakistani president asking Gripen. Some members posted that India was intrested. Then even AFM article confirmed and still lot of posters were denying. Now it is there again. But why 125 Gripens? Why not local development like LCA. Either LCA is not good enough or they are playing between Dassault and Saab.

And at the same time the Indians are asking US to stop selling outdated F16’s to pakistan. Tilting the ballance. The Indian tactic of asking every producer to sell more to India is getting standard. No wonder Pakistan is trying to get J10. Maybe we will see IAF ask for 125 F10’s.

The info that tire blew up seems to be strange. I saw no sparks or smoke. Besides that the pics do not show extremely high aoa.

Saab info is incorrect. Like other highly unreliable and highly subjective remarks. Copying Pakdef pic is even more strange.

I can buy some US-technology being in there (the FBW-system actually sounds like a probable candidate), afterall the US was involved in the preceding Super-7 programme. However, this would make the transfer legal, apart from the fact that it is highly unlikely that the Chinese incorporated it without a major redesign, after such a long time. The paragraph about how single-crystal turbine-blades and pulse-doppler radars (Grifo) are exclusively american technology is just ludicrous aswell. I don’t think the RD-93 is being built in China either, so even the most basic facts are wrong.

A really *bad* article if I ever saw one, there definately seems to be a political agenda.

EDIT: Oh yeah, never mind the fact that US involvement in the Super-7 clearly pre-dated Clinton IIRC.

Which part is unlogical? Maybe Russian engine do not have it? Maybe copies of Russian engine (KunLun) don’t have it? Please do explain the error more specific. Thanks.

    >>>The single-crystal jet engine fan blade technology, a unique US process, has not been cleared for export as a technology or as a manufacturing process – the finished product is used on exported US jet engines – and is considered a sensitive technology and manufacturing process which is prohibited from export. However, the Russian RD-93 turbofan engine (Kun Lun in PRC designation), an upgrade of RD-33 of the type used in Russian MiG-29 fighters, and used in FC-1/JF-17, is built in China under Russian license, and the Chinese examples illustrated at the Zhuhai show have this single-crystal blade technology.

 I do my best to repeat that everything is a result of stealing, copying and improving. Somehow it looks like the old advertisement… Russian invention, American invention…. Maybe we should say Nature invention.

It is unbelievable that we still have posters among us that think that China is not able to produce technology the US “invented” in the 70’s. Most items have indeed dual use technology so getting them inderectly is an option. BUT at the moment the nations have enough engineers to produce the same with the help of improving economy.

Since Fc1 is gradually improved to match newer threats it isn’t exactly a big wow to hear that is has some new items. The boycotting works not correctly if a country in between is willing to earn cash. Some items go to China through Pakistan. Some through Israel and some we not even know.

If we are not suprised to know that almost everything Russian (maybe chinese) is tested in the US then why should we get angry if opposite happens? But it does add that Fc1 isn’t exactly low tech. That might hurt a few here. As usual.
