Unfortuantley , this is a problem with composite materials , they do not bubble when coroided like aluminium, but will delaminate ,If you look back , Concorde suffered with rudder lose on several occasions and this was down to the fact it was a composite rudder, BA started a comprhesive maintance schedule on it’s concorde rudders , but still suffered rudder lose , The only way to detect a problem with composite is to(NDT) Ultrasound the effected areas
I think there will be lots of problems like this on the 787 due to its fuslage being made from an all composite material
Hi Kevin
Not everone was down at PIK the day the
BA A321 came to GLA 05/03/05 as seen
from PhotoE-GPK
I had some heads up abou it arriving at Glasgow ,from some mates down Manchester way, But i glad some one else managed to see it 🙂 , there were a lot of miffed photogrphers at Glasgow the next day 😮
Kevin,
Do you mean classes or cabin sections?
If you mean classes, BA’s shorthaul aircraft all have Club Europe/Euro Traveller convertable seating in the front end of the cabin and straightforward Euro Traveller seating at the rear. European routes operate with a two class cabin using a flexible cabin divider which can be placed anywhere that there is convertable seating. Domestic routes operate with a one class cabin.
If you mean cabin sections the 757 has 3. From the front to the galley at the 2 doors are rows 2 to 9, from there to the toilets at the 3 doors are rows 11 to 24, and from there to the back are rows 26 to 34, with a total of 180 seats in an all economy config. The 321 really just has one big cabin, divided only by the flexible cabin divider and gaps where the 2 and 3 doors are, with a total of 195 seats in an all economy config.
I hope this answers what you were looking for, if not let me know.
1L.
Cheers 1L
certainly dose , I actually thought that the 321 carried less passengers than the 757,but there again with 3 Cabin section , I would guess that this would reduce the overall capacity
Kevin
I might ask you to make me a copy of that programme Sandy if possible, as my copy seems to have vanished into the black hole that always opens when moving house. 🙁
Would this be the around Scotland dvd ,if so I have a copy to hand ,just let me know And i will make a copy for you
Kevin
Oneleft, Do you know how the A321 are configured, are they the same as the Eurpoean configedured 757s from Memory G-BPEE,(LHR-PRG),G-CPER(LHR-GLA) have have 3 Classes
Kevin
If the pilots and cabin staff do decided not to agree to this , you will find that the rest of BA staff will also reject it , which will lead to an all out strike, I think Mr Welsh will have to go back to his advisers , or get a new set of advisers as they have not done to well in the past
I just hope That Mr Welsh see sense ,or is this a cynical ploy to get ride of Staff only time will tell
Still to be approved by the Unions and Staff, and can see fairly stormy weather for BA over this
Was told when they were introduced that they were to replace the 757 European routes, which would free up the 757 for domestic routes ,but as you know with BA any thing is possible
You will get to see them at Glasgow as BAMG will be doing the major Maintenance on them, they recently received all the equipment for it
Kevin

Well i hope they have better luck this time with the atr , Last time It was never away from Glasgow due to Tech Problems , and Highland had to sub in J31 and short 360’s, but Im sure that they have some sort of connection to Air Atlantique, because , G-IONA , quickly sprouted the Osprey on it’s tail after arriving
Allready had a 321 up here last Year doing the shuttle, everyone else were down at Prestwick , I managed to get the only picture of it at Glasgow 😀
