G-CIVC BAW9156 up and Flying over south Wales just now climbing 20,000ft
I agree, I think an unconventional approach is called for and I suspect the way we look at passenger and freight transport will change and that we may see more airline/railway cooperation.
The biggest problem with that is the rail Infrastructure is not there to handle such increase in traffic.
The government tried to move freight to the railways ,but even if they managed 10% off the roads the rail system would grind to a halt and how many airports in the UK are connected to the railways? I know In Europe it,s quite normal but not so In the UK
I might be wrong but did Germany not close down some of its rail routes because of the ash as well
EGPH, as far as I’m aware it’s fairly common practice to cover engines if they’re not running for a short time. Maybe the paper picked up on something ‘normal’ and are trying to make it overly-dramatic?
Normally they put engine covers on to prevent birds and Insects from getting into the engines , ,Static probes to prevent them being clogged by insects and Other foreign objects
I know that Some Places don’t have enough covers and are using other material ( Shrink Wrap) to cover these openings ,but I do believe that clear coverings should not be use on the Static Probes
Looks like most of these flights have now cancelled as MAN is opened for a few Hours Gla Showing Only 1 BA 747 Due ,The First PIK BA T7 over flew and was heading South at 5000ft ,

Personally speaking, I’d rather see her than the anorexic, stick-thin “supermodels” that “grace” the pages of the so-called fashion magazines.
