    606 no more

Andover XS606 was taken out of the hangar today with all her markings removed or painted over which makes me wonder if she is going to be painted white anyway. Not sure if it’s a UN requirement that all aircraft operated by them should be white, perhaps there are people in the know on the forum ?

    XS606

Took these pictures this morning at Bournemouth moments before she entered the hangar to be paint stripped and painted white. As freebird says, she is going to Kenya. Cannot remember what the “mod” was for on the nose but would be interesting to see if it comes off. I have also enclosed an older pic showing her old scheme from over 20 years ago.

Brilliant, the buzzing noise at the end is a possible clue :dev2:

Forgot all about it until I passed a “polling station” sign and wondered what it was all about, then suddenly realised what I had forgotten to do. But that moment passed and I went shopping. Like everyone else, all I got was the voting form and nothing else and decided if it was not important to send me the information then it was not important enough for me to vote.

Flew with them in 2008 and they were brilliant, have to be honest, it is the only time I have paid attention to the in flight safety briefing as it was hilarious.

My favourite aircraft type and I did not realise this famous Corsair still survived until I saw her in 2008 when I had the privilege of sitting in her (made my holiday). I would imagine the museum is probably cash strapped (like most museums) but, unless they tell people we will never know. I have e-mailed the museum a couple of times but have never had a reply. Would be interested in any updates as and when they happen.

    Hi whitfc
You are probably looking at Atlantic Airlines Bae ATP’s and Lockheed Electra (which I am led to believe has not got long left). ATP’s in West Air Europe colours also operate here.

I use the ‘Widscreen’ size with the ‘Direction’ arrow pointing down. I turn the camera sideways so it is in portrait mode and the arrow is now pointing Right and pan left to right. Turning it from Landscape to Portrait gives you a bigger depth to the image.

Thanks for the tip Pen Pusher, will certainly give it a go.
