    @Swerve & EELightining

    The winter ride is a front sus steel tandem ๐Ÿ˜€
    because it looks like that now :

    @Jackonicko
    Yeah, well you did not specify Full squadron induction, did you? ๐Ÿ˜Ž

    which the AdlA won’t have until 2014.

    So 2013, fine.

    Sigh :

    To say nothing of AESA, which the AdlA won’t have until 2014.

    Strange ’cause :

    The aircraft is to be qualified in 2012.

    Deliveries are scheduled from mid-2013 to end 2019.

    But you still call it 2014 and proceed to answer next with the extremely argumented “garbage”?
    Tskk, things don’t change, it seems. :rolleyes:

    @Spitfire YVW.
    Heck mate, why not Gripens scattered around?

    I mean as the NG can be financed or almost
    in such a situation, I thought that right now,
    if you want to buy a fighter cheap cheap it’s the
    J-17/JF-17 .., and bang for the buck, Gripen. ๐Ÿ™‚

    @TR1
    Micro-economics you know, ๐Ÿ˜‰ “It ain’t just fer 3rd world!”

    Prospective work signed/paid for only as of now, Spitfire.
    But the govt’s support to the type was voted in parliament.

    Good night all, Tay.

    @RN Phantom

    The weight was the limiting factor in most Rafale
    design decisions. If you go folding, you go heavier;
    it’s pretty much unavoidable.
    In addition, “non-folding” wings minimize differences
    on the production line and thus keep costs down, yes.

    @EElightning

    Yup, MTBs but we* just switched to the rather utilitarian
    mountain tandem that serves as our winter main steed.
    Which allowed me last week to service a machine made
    of Titanium, Magnesium, Vanadium, Chromium, Kevlar,
    carbon fiber, composites and the odd bit of good ol’ steel …
    ๐Ÿ˜€ almost the same ingredients’ list as our fighters.

    Here gang, a related answer to an exchange of jokes
    that we had with EELightning on the Rafale thread and
    should be even more at home here :

    I thought about it and got an idea :
    Schweiz gets Gripen C/Ds with upgrade
    to replace the Tigers …
    thus providing the conditions of the NG’s development …
    and later full NGs to replace the Hornets?

    ๐Ÿ™‚

    Also in favor of the Swiss choice is the fact that as someone
    pointed out, the Gripen’s “curbside touch-fuel&go” ability is
    probably very near the optimal way for the Swiss Air Force,
    very akin their ground deployment habits ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Neither of the other two birds has it as good really and the
    Swedes can provide the expertise for it, can’t they?

    Snif, nice work but all for naught!

    @ppp, alas memory is the aptitude to forget …

    you could have remembered my talks with NG76,
    French yes but I live in Quรฉbec, lol …
    so snow down on the ground for the next 4-5 months ๐Ÿ˜€

    Good day all, Tay.

    Switzerland?

    Actually EEL, agreed!

    and later full NGs to replace the Hornets?

    Also thnx for the concern but after years of biking all year round
    in one of the most nordic places in the world, simply walking is …
    huh … say mundane, lol. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    OK, sorry, going out for a walk in the snow! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

    @Loke
    That was a tongue-in-cheek rewritten interpretation, mate.
    Sorry for not having been clear on that. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

    But as far as Japan, there should be an invest in the prospective DEDIRA
    for the whole thing to be fully logical as an F-22 replacement.
    Then cooperation with Japan on that basis plus the 9T M-88.
    If it could be, I’d believe but darn, last news about “attitude”/
    arrogance do not foretell well.

    @Swerve
    Agreed with sunk costs but does Dassault want to do that?
    If they get around to it, it should indeed brighten their export
    picture considerably, sigh

    @MrMalaya

    That edge was there in both “camps” since.. huh …
    the beginning, ๐Ÿ˜€

    The Typhoon is not the best fighter ever for having
    been sold or EF stating that “nothing comes close”.
    Inversely, the Rafale is not the worst fighter ever for
    not having won an export yet.
    We both know that all sensible posters can adhere to
    these points. What posters outside that category, i.e.
    sensible, go for should simply be called and forgotten …
    until next time they do ๐Ÿ˜€
