Hello all! I went through this thread with interest and the huge handicap of never having seen the Reds doing their stuff.
The open discussion seems to agree on a lowering of the offering in recent
years, often citing the Hawks’ induction as a possible turning point.
Being French but living in Canada, i would like to know from you guys what might be the reason(s) behind this new picture.
Having seen the PdF in Québec, over the Saint-Lawrence river, in very dire conditions ( Rain, low ceiling, and a tight curved pass by the cliff where most of the crowd was. ) flashing their belly to the waves as they disapeared under the terrace level of 102 meters and giving almost their entire scheduled performance, showed them as proud ambassadors of our country [ Although the last time i saw them on the 14th of July in Paris, their single colored chemical spewing pass was pretty lackluster, LOL. ].
This brings me to my lines of enquiry about the Reds situation.
1- A change in political culture towards the team;
2- A change in military culture towards the team;
3- A not-so great choice of airplane.
If the latter was to be the case, i was itching to suggest that the
HARRIERS be the next steed of the Arrows. I understand the difficulties of patrol and formation with a plane that has such 3D manoeuvering capabilities but if you can find five aces in the forces to do so, they will go where noone
has gone before ( Thereby meeting William…not your prince, Shatner! ).
Bet then they could pull off the Union Jack!
Barring that the pics in the link to Duxford by Flygirl point to the sky…
As long as one envision props for the job, Britain has but one choice :
the forever elegant Spitfire, darn it!
Therein lies England’s best and a reminder of its grandeur if they go abroad.
Thanks in advance for your upcoming explanations/suggestions;
good day all, Tay.
Very good idea!
Sarko is getting an A330 to fly him around, replacing his current A319. Maybe Dave could get to share it, as part of the new aircraft pooling arrangement with the French.
That would be swell, flanker30, as the new fleet is heavily debated in France and has had a negative effect on the availability for MEDEVAC.
Here’s the link to one respected mili journo’s take :
http://www.lepoint.fr/chroniqueurs-du-point/jean-guisnel/les-soldats-francais-blesses-au-front-seront-bientot-rapatries-par-des-allies-25-08-2010-1228533_53.php
To summarize, France’s govt planes have always been run by the AdlA and
dually tasked to carry on MEDEVACs. Both require mili-type access to airspaces encountered for instance.
The ETEC ( Calibration And Transport Squadron ) now has one Falcon 900,
three Falcon 50 and two Airbus 319 all medically-equiped withn the hour,
more or less. It also uses 2 brand new Falcon 7X! but the way the Élysée
has set-up the planes, the previously studied traditional EVASAN kit cannot
be used and at most ambulatory patients could be carried with a light sanitary evacuation kit. Same reasoning is going to hold for the up-coming
A330 of shameful Nic although it does have a small sickbay for him.
Then continues Guisnel, the upcoming retirement of the 900 and the 50s
has not yet been accompanied by the acquisition of four Falcon 2000, well suited to the double task. Last, the two A319 will be sold to lower the ccost of the A330!
Of course the AdlA can use full-sized MEDEVAC capabilities of our C-135 FR
as modified with the Morphée kit for transportation of 4 criticals plus eight
serious at a time on a 24 hour notice. And now, the EATC will provide it too.
So you see where i’ll take it from here, right?
If the A330 was shared it would help alleviate finances, allowing to
retain use of say one A319 and the name of the PM/Prez plane
would come naturally : -now landing in Washington, L’Entente Cordiale!
Good day all.
I’ll second that as expressed by Aspis.
I also think you got full all-inclusive numbers and that
some changed but it is a properly presented picture
of the state of things for general framework discussion.
Thanks madrat.http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Good day all.
Only R.I.P. for the pilot.
See you later, brother.
Good day all.
Great because simple point of view, Aspis (wink to Ponen and Nico10 by extension).
From fanboy to ultimate mili aero amateur, no one with half a set of wits
will ever believe such choices to be devoid of political influence and oh so
often only that. Let me offer an example :
my country chose a plane amongst those in contention that could serve
all purposes if not perfectly as a way to avoid being reduced to buying foreing ( merde, scheisse, ****, oh my, disgusting and all that. )
If that’s not a political choice, what on earth is?
So if Brazil feels similarly inclined for similar reasons and
is to be our future strategical ally of sorts, so be it,
i wont cry, promise! ( Wink anew! LOL )
As for you, Hammer, your stand on this matter is very different,
for evident reasons and i share the disgracious taste coming to mouth
from this sudden “new angle” on things pertaining to FX-2.
The Rafale could be properly housed, albeit in small number on
the SAO PAULO but only after a serious deck lengthening operation
and to present it without mention of this onerous and time-consuming
transformation is a ludicrous and seriously lacking type of journalism.
All this being said, let me add two wishes, namely : first, that Lula or Jobim,
or even San Bernardo’s mayor, etc do not suffer from their respective positions,
or, if you will, that the FX-2 procurement gets definitely settled and, last but not least,
that Brazil gets the most out of their draft pick!
Which fxckxng ever.
Goodnight all!
TAY
P.S. : If Brazil does not win the Coupe du monde,
I hope they only loose to Ghana!!! Pride and peace one and all.
Brazil is planning to upgrade the Sao Paulo, it seems!

Good day all.
Rafale M anyone?

but Poder Aero has it too :

Changes would be needed at least in lengthening the deck
but it could be done and shows were FX-2 is going!!!
Good day all.
One quite unexpected sale for the Raffy :

Add this and we’re still getting closer,
albeit centimeter per centimeter, LOL.
Good day all.
Got it!

Last minute addition, lol, it is not UN or Iran :
it’s Greece the problem :

😮
You read it here first, LOL.
Had found a follow-up on the diplomatic
turns of the FX-2; put up the wrong link
(my hd is so full of them, i think i’ll burn
it and grab a new one).
In essence, now the UN/ONU vote has to come first!
Thanks T’Mor and sorry.
I,ll return with the link soon if nothing more
important shows up.
Good day all.:D
Strange but must read.
Jobim promises closure to FX-2;
specifies next month max, again, LOL.
Rafale appears to have all greens.
Good day… and month all, Tay.

Does anyone have data on these types of exercises? is a draw simply breakign lock, Pulling away, or am I missing somthing?
No one answered you on this, jesse so here :
The most obvious and frequent reason for a draw lies in fuel alloted to
the task. Usually done on left-over time after the exercise, while the lighter and shorter-legged A/Cs are getting back to base and landing, these dogfights have also a realistic appraisal of arms and if you emptied your cannon, which doesn’t take long, it’s over. Depending on the location there may even be a limit to the usable airspace.
Pretty much it, good day all.
The T/A50 is a nice plane and it will get exports at some point, IMHO.
However, its true value lies in downing N.K.’s outdated bogeys which it
should be more than able to accomplish, longer legs or not.
Light, cheap and efficient enough, if it was a girl I’d marry it, LOL.
GFY, Hoon and Korea!
Read you later, Tay.
