It will never end, i’m tellin’ ya!
Sadly, Abrahavt but…
the way things are, where money comes from has little
bearing on how it is spent, which i am sure you can vouch
for from personal experience and if not, by looking around.
The same bankers that got helped by the American Govt
in a recent crisis and in a fashion that i sincerely thought
capitalism à l’Américaine forbade then awarded themselves
some of same money as year end bonuses for having done
such a fine job.
So if Pakistan wants good avionics, it just so happens that
“we” make some of the best in the world, funny happenstance,
ain’t it?
And mixed fleets are never a bad way to go if you can afford it.
Plus, how would our **** friends defend themselves against the
SU/EF/Tejas/M2K/et al. Indian Air Armada………….???
With Chinese stuff???????????? ( No dissin’ but really! )
To Robban, i really welcome your point of view but sincerely
believe that a confontation of both types with each nation’s
best pilot would make you choke on that statement!
Maybe checking their respective data sheets would help, :D.
Of course Kirtap but they won’t believe you, LOL!
Which may be the adequate moment to say that i deeply admire
the Gripen’s rustic character and would not mind in the least if that
was the basis of anyone’s choice, for instance. I am French but live
in Québec at present and bike as a means of transportation,
YEAR LONG! and profess the ut most respect for people that make
modern fighter jets that work from ordinary roads ( Though supposedly better scraped/shoveled than around here!!! Wonder if they use spiked Contis or simple SMOKE copies as i do??? ).
Finally, thanks Kovy for saying it in more acceptable terms than i.
As usual.
Rogues can be useful but they are rarely the polite kind, LOL.
Good night all.
Even French “Raf’ans”…
such as myself are silent, lol.
I tried dumping the essential
snippets here but….to go along
Hammer’s line of reasoning :
There is a dichotomy that has developped in the post-
september 7 period on account of aggressive sale efforts
from the other two makers.
It does not help the Rafale of course but it specifically
muddles the pre-existing agreement with the price debate.
Now, Brazil may feel entitled to pay less. It is henceforth
possible to ask for a price which is dissociated from the
“partnership” envisioned initially.
And one cannot get full ToT for a buck’n a half! ( 1 Euro, lol. )
Plus the currency market may not shift in Rafale’s direction
for quite a while yet.
So that considering the internal Brazilian muddying ( i.e. :
amnesty law/elections/Embraer’s choice et al ), i will state
that if things aren’t settled by April’s end…….darn, they
probably won’t!!!
Now that leaves a lot to come.
A word for LOKE :
Gripen was ranked before Rafale because it met the requirements, offered complete ToT, participation in a development program, and was cheaper…
Do you think the FAB would recommend a fighter just because it was the cheapest? Obviously the FAB believes that Gripen can meet all operational and technical requirements.
There is a load of evidence around to point to the selected excerpt
from a 30, 000 pages report WAS ABOUT PRICE, some of it here posted.
I’ll readily admit however that there is as much evidence that Jobim
“influenced” the writing of the 390 pages report that has been compiled
from the long one for Lula’s benefit.
Also, my friend, there is no way someone not deluded in any way
would believe that the Gripen ( even NG if and then ) is superior
to the Rafale. Of course this may still NOT make it the first choice
for a given airforce ( Nicaragua, Palau and the Vatican spring to mind! ).
Then again,
Selling twin-engine 4.5 gen fighter jets is not easy these days.
you are so very right!!!
As for exports if not in Brazil……………………………………………..
India has selected France for the LCA’s new/future engine development.
If Pakistani jets ever fight with French missiles/avionics/radar against
an Indian LCA we powered….!
Kuwait plus UAE on top of Pakistan, we may have an upcoming connection with the “Arab world” that…..?
ETC.
So, there is little do but wait!
That’s all right, i am checking out the F-35’s growing pains and PAK-FA’s
birth announcement in the meanwhile, LOL.
Good day all!
Wasn’t this…
…the Raffy for Brazil thread?????????? LOL
Here is a little something to bring us back to base
AND show the utmost respect for the US industrial complex
as beheld in general outside closest allies :

Of course, you will need help if you don’t catch portuguese
but there are nice visual aids and some in english!
Nice source too!
OH! :p
Almost news…
almost and yet,

Good night all!:diablo:
Sorry…
my mistake.
Have just finished reading about missiles
and the report gave it as “future”.
Good day all.
Some sort of…
news :
and how could the AIM-120-D be offered when its development phase just ended, TGIF?
We sometimes argue over “on-paper” stuff; let’s wait till the thing flies!
Good night all!
Yes, yes but…
looks who’s carrying it around.

Lazy does it, just read!
Good day all.
Has anyone else noticed that there is a slew of OLD ( 2-3-4 years )
news about the Rafale on the web these days?
Semac from 2008, Lybia from 2007, etc.
I wonder why?
Does anyone here know enough about the web to explain this?
Right, Jackonicko…
one each PESA/AESA both in Switzerland and India.
Good night all.
Well…
of course agreed, Swerve, that it would be complicated
however…the nEUROn is NOT a European project.
What i mean is that it is not limited in scope to the actual
participants.
I wonder if…the BRIC thang couldn’t be shown to its full
advantage to those nations that you mentioned.
And if that is true, it could also explain why the U.S.A.
would be on the Swedish side for now by strategy and
helped complicate a selection process they could not win.
Just musing of course…
