    Still in the funny vein…

    Firstly, agreed!

Secondly, so you engaged your critical faculties….?
Did they come out on top?

Maybe the statement means that the UK ( and us and
the U.S. and… ) will still be in Afghanistan after 2014.

Finally, congrats Nicholas! Only a trace and yet, lol!

And then later, of course from someone who barely
differenciates F.x standards on the Rafale GOSPEL
    carries a lot of weight.
Suggestion : for a comparison to be valid, equal knowledge
    of the compared is necessary.

As an afterthought, if a certains Collins was not so poorly
equipped for his job as was said here and there, you could
have lent credence to his piece and spare yourself part of the
    shock!

    LOL !

Very true, so nice, at so very long last!!!
A thousand thanks, it had to be said!
    Clap clap clap!
    Jackjack for president!
    LOL.

    OK

    @Jackonicko
I say that UK and US pilots who were there say that the claim is misleading.
Sure, with links please. I have posted myself elsewhere the interview
of the F-22 pilot in video format so that one i understand but may be late on anything else.
Also, your answerback on the fanboy call is incorrect in as much as
i accept that 7-1 score with reservation.
I believe it to be right because as stated earlier i will trust Lt-Col
Grandclaudon over a simple forumdweller but…….and it is a
huge but, ( any fans for that? LOL ) he did NOT provide us with ALL
the needed info for proper appraisal.
Maybe that would diminish the strength of the “win”.
Which ties in to the rather balanced post offered by Scorpion82.
For now, us French have an advantage in position which may be
difficult to bear or accept for some whom were long under an
unprecise impression of total righteousness but this position
    is incompletly secured.
    Time will tell!

    Ah! Experts all!

Moreover, the claim made was counter-intuitive to the extent that balanced or neutral observers would suspect it.

    Balanced or neutral observers? Really?
I would really welcome the link to the fora where these are
    hiding!
So…counter-intuitive to people who put a VIRTUAL simulation
    over a REAL simulation; counter-intuitive to a self-proclaimed

( Yes, it did. As a journalist I know how often people look you in the eye and tell outright lies at such events. Merely being misleading, or not telling the whole truth is entirely routine. )

journalist’s view over a real Lt-Col; counter-intuitive to the second
    cousin’s ( unnamed ) best friend’s ( unnamed ) plumber’s ( unnamed )
    wife’s ( unnamed of course ) ex-high school teacher ( there, i’ll accept
the anonymity; i wouldn’t want the poor chap to loose his job and thus be prevented from educating more young minds in such stellar fashion )…
or just counter-intuitive to anyone being a Phoon fan?

And some people wonder why this drags on?

You guys have a much better general behaviour than elsewhere, granted!
    Apart from that…………………………………………………………………..?

    Agreed Satorian.

I just posted it in referal to a small aside talk jdsgn&Edge
    on the previous page.

    Good morning all.

    Sorry,

i was incorrect in using locked which mostly refers to missiles,
pcfem, but did specify dogfight and the parenthesis contained
no more than a joke : IF it had been BVR, lol, you would really
    have heard the French gloating!!!!!!
We are saying the same thing.

P.S. I hope everyone took time to scan that huge pic, there is
a reason for it, jdsgn and Edge in particular.

And yes, i meant Japan or maybe Israël, EDGE.

    Good evening all.

    Where does…

    that come from, Quadbike?
If anyone said Raptor was beaten by the Rafale in UAE,
it is a distortion of reported facts.
The proper story goes that : out of six dogfights done on
the side after the exercises, the Raptor only locked the Raffy once!
( Now if it would have been in BVR, we’d really go crazy, lol. )

At most, the French argument would be that for the price,
a plane that will not get downed by the highest standard of
western A/C with thrust vectoring et al. is a good deal!
Especially if compared with the price of the F-22.

By the way, i found an interesting info that in the last contract for
it, there was to be found the necessary parts for 13 more
F-22 airframes! One can still venture about a reopening of the line
even if in all likelyhood, those are akin to spare parts.

    Good day all.

    Well, well…

Jackonicko, it is not like you haven’t done it repeatedly :

Well let’s be accurate. On the one hand we have ONE named pilot who makes that claim.

in last instance to which Rom_Un and i responded and which you chose to ignore.

I would really like to communicate with others about mili affairs on a factual basis.
All childish my father is stronger than you stuff is a hindrance to that.

So, you are unapologetic about that call, fine it is your right.
I understand fully. I am unapologetic about thinking that you are just
some guy on internet with more gall than knowledge evn though it may be
a misleading, partial and over-selective interpretation of events,.
This bad deal set aside, i’ll welcome any information you can provide.

And to show good will, albeit a tad removed from thread subject :

or (like the Colonel’s claims) like counter-intuitive nonsense

    See Cola?
Small things meaning to belittle other nations such as this one!
I am rather anti-American myself politically but i would not write
that officials from any service of the USA’s armed forces is lightly
deluded about something which falls within his sphere of expertise!
I would venture for a reason behind a given statement, thus providing
for understanding the comment as biased.
As said earlier, if such statement is unacceptable to Jackonicko,
why would i later accept any comment from him without HIGHER
    confirmation?
So from now on, anything coming from said poster would need to be
backed up from MoD top brass, ideally after a drug test to make sure
that person isn’t delusional/psychotic/loaded on magic mushrooms as
    AdlA personnel apparently are.

I’m new here but some guy on internet calling comments from an
experienced fighter pilot/squadron leader of any country NONSENSE
on the face of it when i have no idea if he flew anything but first class
    in his life???………What gall!

Then again, this sort of thing is common on the www.
I should know : i came to talk with you guys because the mili forum
that i visit the most has too much of such.
If ever any French poster behaves that way, you can count on me to
react the exact same way; i did in the past elsewhere.

And in order to earn points for my position, i’ll go look for infos!
    Read you later buddy.

    @Scorpion82
Very right, the first F3s entering service were even given a partial
induction clearance to play the role of QRA but the load of it should
    be on 2000-5Fs shoulders.

    Hum!

Well let’s be accurate. On the one hand we have ONE named pilot who makes that claim.

Well, if Lt-Col/squadron leader is not enough for you,

i will not accept any comment from you on the RAF from
now on without an Air Marshall signature!

Of course if you read this

    http://g2globalsolutions.com/review/?p=3114

and this only, i understand the “rumors”, “unsubstanciated” et al.

    Good day one and all.

    Well, not quite…

Just a word in to mention that Damocles is already being upgraded,
so that when Jackonicko and Arthuro are talking about it, they
should keep in mind that the new Damocles XF is slated for 2012/13.

It is central to all discussions about the Raffy that this plane was
designed from its inception to be constantly upgraded ( something
mostly learned from the USAF ) and that people often refer to F2 or even F1
standards inadvertantly. All the planes in French inventory will be
brought up to new standards; that is why the MN F1’s cost of rebuild/
    upgrade seemed so steep.
RBE2 AESA, M-88GPC, DAMs/DDMs and the likes will go onboard as they
arrive with total retrofit of the fleet.
Of course, this may be contradicted by financial means in the future and
DOES NOT concern the additional equipment per say.
In the case of Damocles normal to XF, it works but there will be a
lesser number bought than we have planes for instance.
