Better landing on the taxiway rather than on the hotels along the A30 near Heathrow as nearly happened some years ago
Yes, that’s it.
The other example I mentioned was the one which flew an old B747. It was a 200 Series, so had to make extra refuelling stops.
I wish I could remember what it was called.
How about Highland Express Airways…?
I just know you are not talking about competition between two Scottish airports. :p
Is that competition between Glasgow A and Glasgow B airports..?
One of my former colleagues left our organisation back in the early 1990s to work for a startup which folded before it started because of financial irregularities and the fact that one of the prime movers had been arrested by the police for some indelicate issues.
Wonder if the same individuals were involved…
The first picture is one of the units that is out on the cleaning the rail head from the ‘wrong sort of leaves’.
The FRS shed picture is very nice. What as it pulling?
As for the 47/57 combo. Duffs are duffs even it they have been re-engined…
I went from New Street to Nottingham on Friday and saw three 56s and blue 47270 outside the former MetCam works at Washwood Heath and then a green 56 and blue 45 outside the RVEL site at the former RTC at Derby, plus all the NR class 31s and DRS class 37s waiting for next week’s test trains.
Modern traction? hahahaha

That is because of an agreement between the UK and Irish governments that allowed travel without the use of a passport (I believe this agreement has now been removed). The boarding card was presented only to establish where you had arrived from.
Well, it certainly didn’t work that way on the flight out to Cork where there was most definately a need to show a passport to get into the country and have a valid visa where appropriate as my wife found out out to her cost
Amusingly I flew from Cork to Stansted once and when we got to Stansted we were allowed back into the country on showing our boarding pass.
A few will be used by QinetiQ; http://www.qinetiq.com/home/newsroom/news_releases_homepage/2007/2nd_quarter/bvraam.html
Not sure its been posted before :p
That’s two accounted for anyway.
I remember earlier adverts for MIG-29s (I think by the Moscow Aircraft Group) which stated that one of the conditions that the buyer had to agree to was to fly the bird on classified US government trials. So you could buy the aircraft but you didn’t have the freedom to fly it whenever you liked.
I wonder if a similar condition woluld be imposed here?
And going back to my earlier post about the Su-27P I recall that they were advertising one of the Test Pilots duo Su-27Ps for sale. I wonder if that is the one indicated in the FAA registry?
http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/AcftRef_Results.aspx?Mfrtxt=SUKHOI&Modeltxt=SU-27&PageNo=1
Well, it has a manufacturer’s code assigned for it!:D
except that is a singe seat Su-27P…
Don’t think so, there was supposed to be two of them. I wonder if anybody has pinned down their identities yet.
F.3 could be a valuable tactical tanker, similar to but faster then USN KA-6E (Intruder)
I think the key words are ‘could be’ but should now be changed to ‘could have been’ given the rate that they are being dismantled and disappearing off the face of the planet
This thread relates to the future, not to the past.
and post 74 onwards have been dealing with the past. Frankly, I think I would put more credence in seeing flying saucers than in many of the possible future scenarios being fought from armchairs here.
I also would like to point to a very long running thread in Historical where participants from both sides in the 1982 conflict have been discussing and clarifying what actually happened with no sense of rancour or anger at each other.
