I must change that to Lady Gaga.
I don’t think it was C/N 030 as this was an unfinished airframe
I was once brought in as ‘disaster recovery editor’ on a publication I hadn’t been involved with and on proof reading it was so appalled at the errors in it that I had the production run pulped…
They never operated Phantoms. I think there is some confusion with the Swedish AF F4 wing.
Just bringing the thread back to aviation, the MOD operated a fleet of a dozen 2 foot gauge Motor Rail locos at the BAOR Wegberg depot (which for some reason the Germans always referred to it as Arsbeck). It was halfway between RAF Bruggen and RAF Wildenwrath and handled munitions and fuel for the two airfields.
The depot shut in 1979 and the locos were put for sale by the MOD and most (if not all) returned to the UK some years later.
Simplexes… (looks for the drool smilie but can’t find one evocative enough )

Fairchild UC-123K crop sprayer (of sorts…)
Yes, I know what it’s doing.
It’s all about definitions and it’s only misleading if you don’t label the graphs correctly.
In the old days I used to ensure that the monthly press release clearly made reference to ‘european carriers’ rather than just ‘europe’. I didn’t read the linked article too closely but I think I saw some vague references along similar lines.
Remember (once again) that IATA is a trade association and the purposes of press releases is to highlight the results of the membership rather than being a rigorous statistical data collection.
Having looked at the property requirements we would need to deliver the full potential of the scheme, we are now clear that Wycombe Air Park at Booker is our preferred site. It has the size, location, topography and combination of attributes that would best enable us to progress our vision, including the potential of co-location of the Air Park for continued aviation.
Does this offer a hope for the future? And if not, what does it actually mean?

The very wonderful UK Locos database still shows two Simplex locos at Duxford. The 1918 loco is the armoured version whilst the other is ex ROF Bishopton and both were lasat reported in the Land Warfare Hall in 2008.
*waves at the various National Preservation rail heads on here*
Yes, that’s how they do it.
And me and I’ve got my specs on as well…
Err, what about the Shacks…and the jets sent to South Africa when they weren’t welcome in the UK?
There is probably a reason why the “old days” are the old days.:D:D
The difference with the above being (with my tongue still very firmly in my cheek) that G-VTOL actually flew for some considerable time with civilian marks here in the UK (as did G-VSTO very briefly elsewhere) albeit under the manufacturer’s title.
I think what it does show is that with the right support (engine and airframe) all things are possible when there is a will. Otherwise it just means loads and loads and loads of money.
Err, what about G-VTOL and G-VSTO back in the old days
I presume that this is the guy who has the ex-Czech Mi-24.
I was asked years back by various people in the Tupolev OKB what I thought they might get for a Tu-95 on eBay. I didn’t think they were serious…
They’ve gone to the Afghan Air Force
