Isn’t/wasn’t there a Chinook at the Mil OKB? And the Moscow Aviation Institute has the escape capsule from a F-111
Looks a bit like the late Graham Hill, but I suppose it’s not
I also hadn’t appreciated that the Tashkent production facilities were over 2 miles from the airfield.
Well, my wife got stopped at immigration at Cork, having flown in from Stansted by Ryanair, because she didn’t have an irish visa in her (russian) passport although she had permanent residency rights in the UK.
Google has put out an imagery update-there’s some good stuff to be found in Russia now. For one, the Russian Knights are visible in Kubinka. One of the GORGON ABM silo fields is visible southwest of Moscow. And of course there are a bunch of new SAM sites visible as well!
Interesting, 11 Knights on one side and 1 on the other – along with 5 MIG-29s of the Swifts. Kubinka is rather different to how I imagined it somehow.
The Thunderbirds with F-4Es at Upper Heyford July 1971. Never knowingly bettered…

Caspian Sea Monster…:o
Note that the dateline on the story is 2nd May 2006
Aeroflot really like the MD-11Fs
Ah yes, closer examination of the website reveals that it is 77115 and that there is some debate as to where it will be situated eventually, whether outside TsAGI, on Gromov Square or as a very last resort with LII.
Don’t leave me dangling like that – what is 77115 going to do at MAKS? Are they wheeling it out to the static park? I have a vague memory that 77114 was open to the public one year before NASA took it over.
What Puma hulk is that in the photograph?
Did anything ever happen about the NASA funded TU-144D at Zhukovsky? Wasn’t it supposed to be up for sale on e-bay?
I see the guy in the back is superflous. But given that they fly them without the guy in the front either, I suppose it’s understandable.
