I remember trying to buy a F-4 cockpit from the MOD disposal people at the time and being told that under the CFE arms reduction treaty, disposal of F-4s could only take place to designated scrap dealers.

We all probably remember the sad destruction of the tiger painted F-4 🙁 and there were stories at that time that cockpits that had escaped the net were being recalled.

Then we can all start saving up for a Victor K2 to trawl round the skies refuelling these beasts…

There’s a pile of Wasps and Scouts (or whatever the collective noun for them is) around, mostly flying out of Thruxton

And the memories of bunking round the Scottish Aviation hangars at Prestwick to see the massed ranks of RCAF ones in storage…

Thanks guys. A good start. Are there any helicopters active in a historic flight?

There are several Bell helicopters still alive. Thanks for the tip Roger.

And the CofA of G-HUEY is expired for some time now if I look at G-INFO. Could there be another Huey in the UK which is not on the british register?

    Greets,

    G.V.

I think the current flying one is an american registered ex-US Army Huey.

It displayed at Yeovilton then landed. It went back out at the end of the flying around 1700.

Totally agree about the toilets, the company that runs the show trying to save money, Traffic, not much you can do about that due to the local roads, More Harriers, chaps thats all there is, only 8 airworthy at the moment I believe, plus 3 T8’s

It took me an hour and a half to get from Sparkford roundabout into the car park. Nobody seemed to controlling the traffic and eventually we were joined by two other streams of traffic presumably from over flowing carparks.

Why did they park the Dead Sparrows on that ramp when they could have put the Sea Harriers there? I remember when they put out all the RN Chipmunks on static display when Roborough was changing over, why didn’t they tow the SHars over from the other side?

Because BAE SYSTEMS were going to upgrade the electronics and so forth and help market it as a replacement for the original models.

Does this mean that BAES have given up on the idea of competing with Mil to refurbish Hinds?

Anyone else go and feel a tad disappointed? Lots of intersting civil stuff but where was the mil and where was the real farewell to the Sea Harrier?

As ever, toilets, traffic arrangements and positioning of airframes. Get it sorted please?

Their main aircraft appears to be a Gulfstream 5 which has been tracked through various registration changes by way of its c/n. The Guardian had an article on this on Monday and showed a photograph which included a white coloured C-130 rather like the one operated by Lynden Aviation which flies around Europe a lot…
