Smokers! Don’t forget about smokers! π
For what I’ve seen this year (see my website ;-)) I’d hesitate between the Dutch F-16 and Swiss F-18 solo demonstrations.. probably a bit more towards the latter, for personal reasons ;-). I don’t think that it’s really that much the machine that matters most.
BTW, I’ve seen the cobra few times with MiG-29 OVT and somehow… it didn’t impress me that much… I guess that with a “regular” plane it might.
What’s needed is not “Green Tax” but a system to make people want to help the environment lets take the “pay as you throw” rubbish idea.
(..)
Letβs give all homes a set of bins as follows(..)
It sort of works like this in the Switzerland (well, in the “more Swiss” part at least ;-)). There are the recycling points everywhere and, as long as you have your stuff separated into paper, white glass, colour glass etc… (some points have up to 16 different kinds of waste!) you throw them away for free. Then, for all the “generic” things, like the typical kitchen waste, you have to buy the plastic bags from the local authorities – and, believe me, they are not cheap at all :D. Bloody simple and logic. And it works π
As for the cars, there are some really serious plans to heavily tax the 4×4’s, or other 5L-engined monsters used very often to do the shopping or bring the children home after school. Yet another reasonable idea, IMO.

There is one nice landing photo on our Swiss forum: http://airpic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=191 π I remember seeing it originally posted by the author somewhere else, but I can’t find the right thread…
Edit: just after posting… I have recalled π it’s here: http://www.foxalpha.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11228
There are more on my website: http://photosite.pl/aviation/sion06/ π

Something to encourage you even more π Last passage of the Patrouille Suisse solo – I don’t know.. maybe 30m from the people’s heads, between two “public” mountains. Definitely too close and too fast to take a decent photo from the place I was:
(No, this is not included in the official PS display π only in Axalp!)
Not to mention the subsonic passage of the Mirage pair over the crowd… nobody even bothered to take the photo (again: too close, too fast), the people just enjoyed the noise and gave a big applause afterwards. Stunning!
And to finish, some helicopters

(OK, I know it’s not their main attraction and I presume that it’s their support aircraft (..)
Actually, one of the comments I’ve heard from behind, regarding the Blue Angels display (consisting of, first, half an hour of oh so very “American” show of getting into the aircrafts, then, another 30mins of making circles around the public) was:
Well… the Fat Albert display was more dynamic!
π Which I almost agree, BTW π JATO rocks! π
