Cheap Trick
What were some of those people thinking??
The 747 and other planes mentioned use the support in the cargo version only or do the passanger versions also have this feature too? The Il62 has this and it is a passanger plane. Does the British VC10 have this feature also? It is a similar design to the Il62.
Thanks for the information and the pictures.
So this is not part of the plane, but is attached after it is already on the ground? Any pictures of a 747 with the support?

Politics and money.
Isn’t one where the whole dish moves and the other has no moving (or few) parts and is scans electronically? Only the beam moves and not the dish.

countries like POland are joining NATO and they are getting western equipment such as F-16s, specially the ones in storage and thats why they are getting rid of old, semi-used Mig-29s.Russians are doing the samething what most hardware companies do in US, buy your opponents/competitor’s equipment and sell you the new ones. They can turn around sell the old bought back Mig-29s, overhaul them and sell them to countrries like Bangladesh or india who already has them.
Poland is already in NATO, since the late 90s (1999 I think). They are getting new F16’s in 2006 (?). The Polish airforce is also taking delivery of ex-Luftwaffe Mig29’s (23 in all). This means that Poland will have around 45(?) Mig29’s for at least the next decade.
They can turn around sell the old bought back Mig-29s, overhaul them and sell them to countrries like Bangladesh or india who already has them.
?????? ??????
The Russians are not buying back the Mig29, they want the old Mig21.

That’s what I thought too, however how good are the parts from an aircraft that is being retired because of its age or becasue it has reached the end of the lifetime of the airframe?

There was a similar report in AFM (January issue) about talks with Poland where they would get Mig29s and Mig (?) would buy back the Mig21bis. Any idea what they will do with the Mig21s that they buy back? Are the Mig29s brand new or the ones that have been built earlier and are being sold off?
Thanks for explaining the missing tailfins. I looked at the picture and others of the MD and the framework and glazing are the same.
Quick question, all of the pictures that I saw of the MD 900 or Explorer show it as being a NOTAR and it has two tail fins which stick out past the body of the helicopter (see drawing posted by Arthur), however the picture posted by Atc Pal lacks the two tail fins. That is why I suggested a Eurocopter model. Is there a version of the MD with a regular rotor and without the twin tail fins?
