I always rated the Munsters above the Addams family…can’t put my finger on it.
Surprised that Al Lewis, Grandpa, died only at the start of last year. I knew he had passed away, just thought it was much longer ago. He looked 95 way back then! 🙂
new entry for “Colemanballs”
“Footballistically”. As uttered by no less a person than Arsene Wenger, Arsenal Manager, describing Beckham in answer to the question “is he finished”.
Joins:
“Bouncebackability” (Ian Dowie)
“Dragbackflick” (Ron Atkinson, describing an indescribable piece of skill – not Becks, obviously).
Proves no matter how “cultured” you are, football still proves that the “boys done good”…

I do my best! 😉
Remember the name:
TIM YEO (conservative; small “c”).
Sadly these are the people that are supposed to be representing THE ELECTORATE…
So Mr Politician, you going to electrify the rail line up to Aberdeen from Edinburgh, to replace the domestic flights that are going to be dropped? Hmm…?
No?
Thought not.
CARRY ON FLYING…
Thon Bell 214’s seen better days!
Nice pics Robert. 🙂
That Italian Hawker 800 has been a few times down the years, but I’ve never managed to get a Cornetto off it yet!
My condolensces to those who have lost loved ones & friends. Dreadful for this to happen, especially at this time of year.
Again proves how hazardous working offshore can be. ABZ had a huge number of heli movements yesterday, shuttling guys to/from the rigs – “Xmas rush”. No incidents here, yet this happens in Morecambe Bay, a relatively short hop from BLK compared to some N.Sea flights off ABZ. Terrible.
G-BLUN indeed, regularly seen from time to time at ABZ, is main news up here too.
Dauphin has an outstanding record, as has CHC Scotia, I think it may be the first incident like this in the UKCS to occur to this type.
Sad news.
Alas for BA they are worst affected being the No.1 carrier at LHR.
Now if they were still flying the REGIONS  maybe they wouldn’t have as much disruption than they do now by putting all eggs in the LHR basket.
(OK I’m winding you up!!)
BA will always concentrate on long haul in adverse weather at LHR, or where ATC places restrictions on movements for whatever reason, to the expense of domestic short haul especially.
Not so bad (relatively!) for the likes of MAN, EDI or GLA where there are alternatives.
For my area, ABZ is much more adversely affected given its location. It’s a LOOOOOONG to come by train/road, & air travel is most popular for the business passenger especially. It’s made all the worse by it being the busiest time of year up here plus business is booming anyway, if you look at the increases in pax at ABZ.
Yup, that would fit in with T3 operating a skeleton scheduled service over Xmas/New Year!
They better NOT be in any trouble, they are the No.1 operator at ABZ!
Basically they fly when the oil industry/businessman wants to fly & don’t when they don’t.
That’s one reason why they hardly fly any scheduled routes on a Sat.
Did you know the first 7 arrivals at ABZ between 0730 & 0810 M-F are all T3?
560 (Wick), 580 (DTV), 4030 (Newcastle), 722 (Norwich), 225 (NEMA or whatever they are these days!), 4711 (Leeds) & 750 (Humberside).
Yet on a Sat, they only have the one JS41 that routes NCL-ABZ-BRS-ABZ-NCL.
Would say:
i. Fog, as a number of T3 flights have been affected;
ii. T3 probably also winding down for Xmas/New Year. They always operate a skeleton service over holiday periods.
Given their fares & target market, I would be shocked indeed if T3 were in any trouble.
Andy Flower (ABZ MD) said something interesting in the P&J newspaper yesterday.
Apparently there are 55 people daily that jet off from ABZ to Houston via other airports (ie. London airports, or AMS).
So demand is there, but NOT for a daily flights from those figures. Maybe once, twice a week, UNLESS they are looking at an “all business” operation on the likes of a BBJ (eg. Privatair).
F O G ?
Good news for the Scottish Central Belt.
Sadly it’ll be a cold day in hell before EZY ever expand at what is in fact Scotland’s fastest-growing airport, £60m expansion plan or no £60m expansion plan. 🙁
It will be interesting to see when the final draft of the Masterplan is out, which should be imminent now the runway extension has been approved, whether there are any amendments compared to the outline Plan currently shown.
Given the continual strong growth at ABZ, you would have thought that the BAA would give some thought to upgrading some other badly-needed aspects, eg. more stands, parking areas for aircraft, expanding the terminal (eg. MORE than one carousel please  ) & so on.
Interesting they are also talking about enlarging the cargo area, but I would have thought that area could be needed for terminal expansion, & that the cargo area would have to be rehoused – but where?
Also if Trump’s dream becomes reality & he gets his golf complex (which i hope he does) then potentially many more businessmen/tourists could arrive.
I wonder whether BAA has in fact underestimated what has happened at ABZ up to now, & could happen in future.
Long long overdue, but fantastic news nevertheless.
Masterplan out soon hopefully.
