I give this joke outfit another 6mths.
No ERJs in the T3 fleet.
JS31
JS32
JS41
SB20
D328.
Agree livery looks OK on the D328.
I have heard the Citation, appeared at ABZ near the end of last year. Must be an Exec mount for the MD or something.
I shed no tears for Air Wales.
Poor timekeeping has not helped their cause at ABZ, nor short-notice cancellations.
I am convinced there IS a market for direct CWL-ABZ flights.
Perhaps Eastern or Citystar may have a look at it.
LPL would maybe be more difficult, with MAN nearby. BLK was dropped by Citystar as they found the business market used MAN also.
Do AWW still fly routes for BMI Baby or has that finished?
To think HM QE II used to be flown around in an Andover!
ABZ had loads of 748s too, BA & Danair, mainly to Shetland.
At peak, Danair flew something like 17 daily flights M-F to Sumburgh on oil charters!
Hardy a/c the Budgie…could fly in conditions which precluded its successor, the awful ATP.
Ah, the good old days!!
You know you’re getting on in years when younger forum members don’t recognize a 748!!
Yes, I can confirm at ABZ T3’s JS32/41s “power back” as it’s called.
Were they “Livin’ On A Prayer” as the plane skidded off the runway?
From ABZ:
Perhaps City Star could pick up the LPL route, can’t see the BLK route returning.
LCY rumoured to be returning with City Star, they apparently have slots at ABZ for W05/06, albeit no announcements yet.
Flyglobespan supposedly had slots at PRG for an ABZ route flying M & F, again no announcement yet, perhaps the slots have been handed back. CSA also rumoured to be looking at PRG – ABZ.
Would like to also see:
STN (much missed), HAU (previously served), GOT, ARN, BRU, maybe a German destination & more “sun” flights to add to MON’s AGP service. Perhaps BCN & PMI, both previously flown by Air “Scotland”.
Perhaps 2006 will see an announcement by a loco to serve more routes out of ABZ…GSM & BEE both rumoured of course.
Talking about more aircraft & more routes from ABZ though.
I saw LCY suggested as they had slots at ABZ for this, but no announcement yet.
Yes, BLK was a disappointment, as they found only leisure travellers rather than oil workers used the route, but there have been questions on whether there was enough advertising of the route, especially in the Lancs area, as most oil workers didn’t apparently know of the route. They preferred using MAN instead.
